I need some new trick suggestion, and how to teach them....Chloe is such a smart girl and she is getting bored with the same tricks. Lucas is still working on heel, he is so stubborn. Anyways, she knows:

Sit, stay, come, drop it, leave it, speak, hush, down, off, wait, shake, roll over, stand, shake left, shake right, and hi five.

Any idea's for a fun new trick...or maybe something obedience that I haven't taught that is good for her to know?

I was thinking of hop lucas knows that, but I didn't want to take a chance on her hurting her hips, since she is so big.

For Chloe or Lucas?

Either way....Lucas howls at sirens and when we'd hear them he would howl and we would say speak and give him a click and treat....he soon got the idea.

Chloe already barked alot (mainly out of excitement) so everytime she barked we would say speak and then click and treat.

For roll over I got them to lie down and then showed the treat and held it to the right of his nose where he could see it but had to twist to get it, then as they turned there heads to get it you slowly move it around there head barely out of reach so they have to keep twisting and eventually end up on there sides then give treat and say good boy/girl.....then next time just keep going so they have to roll all the way over to get the treat. Then click and treat and praise.

Does that make sense?

But make sure your dog isn't barking at something inapropriate...like other dogs....when you treat otherwise he will think it is good to bark at the dogs and it will be harder to train him out of that.

maybe teach Chloe how to dance, or spin. That sounds like something she might like. Or teach her how to bow, that could be fun too.

For Lucas he howls (he doesn't ever bark) at the sirens from ambulances...and they are always going by my house....so whenever he'd howl I would say speak and then click and treat.

Chloe barked when someone rang the door bell so I'd ring the doorbell and then say speak and click and treat when she spoke.

You just have to know what your dog will bark at...weither from excitment or music or something else.

Ohhh...Bow sounds fun! How would you do that?

Would you have them stand and than hold the treat near the floor and a little behind the head so they have to reach downwards to get it but can't lay?

We play Hide and Seek with our dog lol. One of us will keep him busy in his room while the other finds a spot to hide like under the table or in the closet or behind the chair. wherever we could fit lol. Then we would ask him where mommy or daddy is and he would start looking. I think that's kind of a cool thing I don't know if its a trick lol.

Also you could teach him to get his toys by name. Like Teddy knows what his ball is. if you say "go get your ball" he will ALWAYS come back with a ball. He knows a few toys by name. That takes some time to teach also.

They already know hide and seek and I forgot they know "search".....where you hide a treat under a cup and put like 5 other cups that are empty...always hiding the treat with them somewhere they can't see it.....the telling them to sniff each cup to find it...it's a fun game :)

Getting her toys by name is a good one.....that will come in handy

yeah it comes in really handy with teddy lol. Especially when he brings out a toy that we don't especially want to play with lol like his tug o war rings lol. We just say where's your ball and he drops the rings and goes searching lol.

I will have to try that search thing with him. he has a good nose :D

I think so, I'm still trying to teach Hannah but she just automatically lays down and rolls over the second the treat goes anywhere near the floor.

Weaving between your legs as you walk is a fun and easy trick to teach. For play dead I used a lure at first. I'd go the her whilst she was lying down and use the lure to get her head on the floor. As soon as her head was on the floor she'd get the treat. This then evolved into a handsignal, which I continued to reinforce whilst moving backwards. Then I gradually changed the hand signal to a gun, whilst saying "bang your dead!", then I would only reward the fastest downs.

Play dead also sounds like a cute little trick.....maybe I can start Lucas on that while Chloe learns bow :)

As for weaving between my legs.....noooo....I don't think that would work out......Them being very tall and me being pretty short (5' 2'') I think the end results would me riding them and then falling  LOL
