This is from a rescue's blog about new Parvo strain:

The new strain of Parvo, is called CPV type 2c, if you want to read here & here for articles.
I have been saying this for the past year, that something is not right and the virus is changing.
I have seen so many different variations, from incubation time, to the symptoms, to the way they react to the medications given.

thanks - Great info for me to pass on out here in alaska

Wow, I had heard about this and a few other nasty things making there way around the USA...
and beyond

Thanks, I will do some research on this/ Need to find something easy for my parents to read... The articles look great but I want to get something a little less wordy.

Many of my pet parents need ME to FEED them info... Because they are so busy and many travel for work... To the Lower 48... We call it OUTSIDE travel...
YOU are the OUTSIDE to us: Strange ????
I have been here 10 years now and find it odd when people say they need to go " outside"

Thanks for the info::)

My vet sent me a letter in the mail just yesterday and told me about the new Parvo strain. That's a very scary thing.

i read both...and have seen parvo in multiple puppies up close and personal. WE didnt' even know what parvo was all those many years ago at our kennel, until it was too late. So Please vaccinate. Please do not purchase your puppy from a puppy mill or pet store that purchased from a puppymill.. Please do not take your puppy to off leash dog parks, or wildlife parks either for that matter. THe wolves at yellowstone payed a heavy price. Please take your puppy to the vet as soon as you get him/her, and do not set him on the floor but keep him in your lap, to your car and to your home. IF your puppy shows any signs of turning away from water like it causes them pain to even think about it, vomits or has a loose stool of odd odor, keep your puppy away from all other dogs and seek medical attention. Bleach everything that has come in contact with the stool or vomit.. DO not wait. I was told by a vet many years ago that there was a different strain of the virus that started in teh bowls and worked it's way up. Very young puppies should be protected from high dog traffic even WITH the vaccines. Keep those 8 weekers out of petco. THat is all i know on the topic. I hate parvo with a passion, it is cruel, a dreadful way to die, but many do with treatment live and go on to have strong happy lives.
