His Ripliness allowed a few minutes of "camera-time" this morning before he started pouting and getting violent! :D

First... I finally got a picture of it - he DOES freestack beautifully for a dog with poor structure. He's quite the charismatic little demon when he wants to be.

He looks massive in this picture!

..Picture time is over when I get this face.

Unlike Dakota, Rip works very independently in agility. He's good enough that I could just yell out commands and snap pictures from 20 feet away, so I may have some agility pictures for you guys soon!

Okay, if you look at his rear legs, do you see how they sort of make a straight line from the thigh to the foot? He's extremely straight in stifle, in fact his "knee" has no turn to it at all. He has very little rear angulation.

If you need something to compare it to, this is my other dog (not a pap, obviously lol) See how his hocks are set a little farther back, and you can clearly define the point of hock? He has more sound, correct angulation and good turn of stifle - if he was a Papillon that is.

Ripley's kind of hard to explain unless you get your hands on him. His front feet turn out dramatically at the pasterns even though it's not too evident in these pictures thanks to some creative grooming.
His head is incorrect, as far as proportion goes - his head is too large for his muzzle, which is not only too small but too short. His muzzle is a little snipey and while his bite is okay, his teeth suck.
You cannot see it in this picture, but his back is roached (like that of a whippet, just not that extreme) where the Papillon is supposed to have a level topline.

At first glance, if you don't really look at structure, he does look a lot like a Pap. He has the correct hare feet, correct ears with a great ear set, a nice tail, etc. Very typey, just not sound.

I love him to death though. :D

And Saje - seriously! He is TINY in person, but look how he appears to take up that entire ottoman. He looks big in pictures.

thanks for the info RD it helps a lot when there are pictures, my sisters chi also has a roached back in fact she actually looks a lot like a mini whippet/hound incorrect for the standard but it makes her incredibly fast. how much does ripley weigh?

Oh yes, I do think that a roached back allows them to cover more ground when they run and definitely makes them faster. My Border Collie is very fast but Ripley can outrun him.

Ripley weighs about 5-6lbs. At one point when he was about a year old, he weighed 3-4lbs. :( He's always been very, very lean but is at a good weight right now.
