we got a new puppy this afternoon...about 12-14 weeks old, female australian cattle dog. no name yet. gets along great with strider, our 94 pound male german shepherd, actually kicked his butt when he plaid a little ruff with her. going to take pictures in a little bit. we just got home at 3:00 and let her sniff around, do her business and meet her older brother. right now she is in her puppy crate for a nap time. when we let her out in a little while to go potty I'll take a bunch of pics for everybody to see. so just be patient for about an hour :)

no, we had it narrowed down to golden retriever, ausie, or doberman. she has the perfect personality...loving, sweet, queit, doesnt let strider push her around too much, they'll have to be watched closely for atleast a few days. we'll be closely monitoring them for a lot longer though. heres the pics....

She is soooooooooooo adorable!!!!!!! It looks like the 2 of them are good friends; I hope it continues. Be sure to keep us updated with pics as she's growing and when you pick a name for her.

I will. they get along very well. strider is a little ruff, and thinks he has to establish dominance so he keeps standing over her, and kind of pushes her around with his front feet. he's only growled once when she got too close to his pig ear, but thats all he did.

your puppy is SO cute. Do you have any names picked out, or are you waiting until your pup's personality comes out. I don't feed Pedigree dog food but they have a thing that you can go on and find dog names and their meanings that may help you decide what you would like to name her.

i dont get it how big are aussie to get, are they small?
The Australian Cattle Dog is a relatively hearty, healthy breed that has an average lifespan of twelve to fifteen years. They are a medium sized muscular dog that stands 17 to 20 inches (43 to 51 cm.) at the withers (shoulders). Their weight range is variant around their general build but on average falls between 30 and 50 pounds (14 to 23 kg). The Australian Cattle Dog comes in two colors: Blue or Red.

she'll probably be about 30-35 pounds when full grown. females are smaller and I get that guess from the fact that a large male could be 50-55 pounds, and from the size of her feet. I dont know if she is pure bred or not (looks it to me) but her personality is pure aussie!!! shes a tough little booger. she doesnt put up with strider when he gets rough with her, she taunts him, and slowly stalks up withing a foot of him when hes lying down, then lunges at him. and she zips in and out a lot faster than he can when she is paying attention. their doing really really well so far.
we got home with her at 3-3:30 this afternoon, shes had 1 accident. about 2 minutes after we came inside from a 30-45 minute play/potty break in the back yard. she has already learned from strider that if she has to go she scratches at the back door, but if shes more than 10 feet from the door when it hits her that she has to go, she just goes (or I should say went, since its only been one time).
we are trying to think of names, and we're thinking Rorie might be a good name. still trying to think of other possibilities, maybe something australian but cant think of a feminine aussie word/name that isnt really long. like kangaroo...too long. we thought about calling her Brisbane, Brissie for short but think my wife likes Rorie better and shes her dog. for those who are like me and have never watched the show...Rorie is short for lorelai who is the main charachter of Gilmore Girls. she calls her 18 year old daughter rorie. if you guys have name suggestions feel free to post them, we may stick with rorie but we are open to other possibilities as well.
