Hi

I have a 3 year old labrador boy and I just adopted a 4 month old westie girl, they basically spend most of the day together inside my room and the backyard (both connected) they get along pretty well, you know they play and hang out all day long BUT I have noticed that many times when the westie is peeing (in the backyard) the labrador pees on her or very near her, so she gets pee in her body :yikes:

This is a problem because i have had to bathe her twice this week  I have catched him in the act and said "no" to him very firmly, he understands the meaning of the word but it hasnt worked for this behavior in particular

Is there something I can do about this? they are going to spend at least three years toghether (until my brother moves out, as the labrador is his)

Please help me :(

Hmmm. Is he peeing on her to claim her as his "territory?" I don't know what to tell you about how to solve it. But it doesn't sound like he's being aggressive, so maybe he's just including her in what's his.

He doesn't mean to pee on her ....just can't wait until she's finished so he can mark over hers . He'll get used to her soon !! Hang in there !! I'd hold him back until she finishes her squat .

I think is territorial, he has done his business inside a few times since she has been with us and he never did it before, I have had to restrict the times when he is inside .... and unfortunatelly I'm not always around when the little one has to go outside to pee

He is marking his territory and hasn't learned to wait until she is finished first. You need to try to teach him to wait or keep them separated.

Hey Shana...........what happened to the puppy that was 5 months old in July 06? I was wondering how the training came out with him :)
I worked things out with her pretty well, :( unfortunatelly I had to give her to a friend as my mom decided that 2 big dogs was not easy in the economy of the house and we wanted both to have good lifes, you know quality food, space... so this is why I got a westie in the end, but I get to see her once in a while though ... she is huge btw ;) thanks for asking

Anyway, I guess we wil have to watch him (our lab) very closely, cause they will have to spend a few years together (until my bro moves out, 'cause the lab is his)
