Just thought I'd drop in here and say hello. I found this site shortly after buying our basset hound (Bella). Mostly just lurking, but decided to finally join.

I'd like to thank everyone here, I've learned so much since stumbling on this site. I'm a first time dog owner, so it's been quite the learning experience.

It's going great. In the beginning it was a lot more work than I expected (housebreaking), and at times it was very frustrating, yet extremely rewarding. She has pretty much the textbook basset personality, which suits my wife and I perfectly.

One of the best things though is that I mostly have weekdays off, and have absolutely no one to hang out with since everyone I know works Mon-Fri 9-5, so Bella is my buddy, and we get to keep each other company.

My wife and I definitely want to get another hound once we move (not for a while). She wants a Bloodhound and I want a Coon hound, so we'll see how that plays out.

Hi,
Welcome to dogdom and Chaz! This is a great place for new puppy owners. Puppyhood can be a challenge, so stay close to this site as you'll get great advice and info. Bella is just gorgeous! A neighbor of ours has a basset named Otis who is 18 mos old and the most wonderful boy. He's my first basset experience and now I think they are terrific dogs!

Oh my.. how to choose.... WAIT! No! It's an easy answer. Bloodhound, definitely. :D And then get a Coonhound, too, LOL!
