Last Friday we picked up the newest member of our family, a baby rottie. He was born April 26th in a litter of 3 boys and 3 girls. He call him Romeo.

He is a very smart boy, although quite stubborn. Loves to chew feet, cords, and anything else that gets in the way of his mouth. He often does not like to be held and will let us know it! lol.

Here are a few pictures:

ps; We've had a few people mention how long his coat seems to be, and some even mistook him for a Newfoundland. Does anyone here think he is one of those 'long-haired' rotties? Both of his parents had short hair.

**Note: Earlier this month, we thought we were adopting a 1+ year old bullmastiff. We had him for a couple days, and he got well adjusted to our family in that time. But we regret to say that the previous owner 'smartened up' and decided to put in a full effort this time around. That thread can be found here: http://www.chazhound.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55376

He's beautiful! :D

His fur looks like normal to me too. Sometimes they can be pretty fuzzy when they are little.

That's great to hear from a fellow rottie owner (not that I'd love him less if he was long-haired).

I started him on clicker training and he is catching on quite well. These are very smart dogs.

lol All puppies are "fuzzy" no matter what breed.

They start growing their adult coat around 5months old..

Riot looked like a little skunk when his was growing it.. it usually starts down their back first lol

very adorable pup! :) Where did you get him from?

Thanks, good info.

We got him from a breeder a couple hours away. Some may call her a back-yard breeder though because she advertised in the local newspaper, she usually keeps the dogs in indoor/outdoor kennels (the ones with in indoor part and an outside dog run) rather than in the house, and small things like that. However we feel confident in her as she showed us the OFA certs of the parents, provided us with the pedigree, and she shows her dogs (saw proof of that as well). We played with the parents and her other dogs, and they were all very friendly and well behaved.

All of the other breeders we contacted around this area hardly ever give their rotties to companion homes. It's usually show/working homes only. We looked for a while and when this opportunity came up we had to jump on it. I'm afraid to post on the large rottie message board for fear of what they will say to that. lol.

I've always loved Rottis. I've actually never seen one as a pup before though. Such a cuttie.

I am a fellow Rott lover and have just joined this forum.
Your Rottie puppy is cutie.:)
Sadly...your puppy does come from a BYB.:(
I looked up both the names you mentioned and both the sire and dam of your pup ONLY have had their hips OFA'd....and both were Fair. Both dogs were only certified after they had been bred...not before. Rottweilers have so many health problems. A good breeder would have had their hips, elbows, eyes and hearts all certified even before thinking of breeding. There is also no history in the pedigree of any of the dogs in the lines having any health certifications. Only the female has her Championship? What other titles do these dogs she bred have? They should have obedience or some sort of working titles.

There are alot of BYB's that have just that bit of knowledge...they know what to say and how to say it. By just getting the sire and dams hip done....it impresses people to think that they are good breeders.

Join the Rottweiler Club of Canada www.rottclub.ca and learn more about our great breed. You do not have to show or breed to be a member. We have all sorts of things going on that you can do with your puppy in the future. Get enrolled into Puppy Kindergarten classes and keep your pup in classes for the next couple of years. Rottweilers love to learn...and are happiest when they have a job to do.

Hopefully your pup will not have any problems in the future?

BP - EVERY puppy is "fuzzy" in their own little way.. you know that lol

Out of all the years I've been around pups - i haven't seen one breed that wasn't "fuzzy" as a pup.. even Pug pups have that "baby fuz" on them..
