Hi All!

Just thought I would stop here and say that I just love seeing how many people have dogs, cats, and any other kinds of animals.

I'm working on getting a puppy. Although the golden retrievers that I have found are almost 4 months old.

See ya around!

All of the rescues that I looked at wont adopt dogs out to families with kids under 8 years old.

Our son will be a year in August.

Hi, and WELCOME! I can't believe that about golden rescue groups not adopting to those with young kids! They are such great dogs with kids!? What state are you in? I volunteer with a golden rescue group here in Indiana. Just curious...

If the 4 month old goldens have been socialized and raised in good homes, they may be a good choice. Try to get as much info on them before you decide not to adopt one.

I agree that the 4 mos. old may be a good choice....but I'd really look into why they either weren't placed earlier or why they are being given up now. You don't need to buy a problem with so many good goldens out there .

EliNHunter ~ I'm in Pennsylvania.

Barb04 ~ The puppies were raised indoors with a family. And they have 3 younger kids. I know the people who are the breeders. They are distant cousins.

bubbatd ~ The lady who has them hurt her back and didnt have a chance to get the word out about the pups.

They are really good puppies, we already saw them once. And we are going back tomorrow to look at them again. The parents have papers and where hip checked and all that other stuff.

Today we spent 2 hours at the breeders house with the puppies.

I am totally in love with one of the girlies. She is really light in color but she is going to be a nice size girl.

When we got there today, I was holding our son and as soon as we walked in the back yard. The one puppy stoled Jr.s sock. And the two puppies were playing tug-of-war with it. It was so funny. So then I just took the other sock off.

My husband said, just like a golden...stealing socks. His golden used to do that all the time.

I really really really want to get this one puppy, but tomorrow the lady is having another couple come get a dog and they get to chose whatever one they want. I know deep down that they will pick the one that I want.

I really need to get that puppy. She is really mellow with Jr. she just licks him, unlike the other ones who eat his toes and fingers. Today she almost fell asleep in my lap, although she was falling out of it cause she is so big.

If you want it and you can take care of it then go for it. Do you not want a puppy and a toddler? I have three dogs (all not housebroken) 4 months, 10 months and 2 years and I also have a 1 year old daughter. I think it's best for the child to grow up with puppies and vice-versa. Although you gotta keep a good eye on the puppy to keep him from jumping on the baby. Can you call tomorrow before the people show up and hold the puppy, if it's a cousin than it shouldn't be that hard.

juliefurry ~ I want my son to grow up knowing how to handle dogs (or any kind of animals)

He just loves them to pieces, when he is with them - he just laughs the whole time.

My only problem right now is coming up with the whole $400. My husband told me to call her and tell her we can give her $200 and then $200 on friday. I just need to figure out the bills to see if we can do that.

I am going to call her in the morning though. I just feel like this puppy is suppose to be ours. When we were up there today, she stayed at our sides and didnt play with her brother and sisters. She just wanted our attention.

Does that make sense?

yeah, that's rough. I know exactly what you are dealing with. I put our checkbook negative when we rescued or husky from the shelter. I'm hoping that you get this puppy though, she seems like a really good puppy for your family. I want my daughter to grow up with animals too, I'm hoping she'll grow up to be an animal person herself. Although I grew up and had no dogs and only one cat who HATED me and I still ended up being a complete and utterly hopeless animal lover.

We had animals (mostly dogs) growing up. But I hate to say it, we lived by a busy road and a lot of them got killed that way. :(

This time we live off of the main road and will always be prepared when taking the dog outside.

And money wise, we have it. BUT its suppose to be some of the house payment... LOL I would rather spend it on a puppy though.

yeah we used some of our earnest money to buy our lab puppy shelby. It was worth it though, we know it. We have the money as well, just not when we need it (LOL)
