A homeless persian came in to work. A woman had found him and kept him for four weeks, but he wasn't claimed. She was going to take him to the shelter, but decided to trim mats off with scissors (she apparently didn't brush him) and ended up cutting him. So she brought him to the clinic where I'm a tech. I decided to take him on the spot, as I've wanted a Persian (or exotic) for years.
He was completely matted, so had to have a pretty drastic haircut. He looks a bit like a breast of chicken. But it's hair and it will grow:)

He's a sweet guy. My youngest cat is Not Amused, but there hasn't been any brawls, just some dirty looks

Have you named the little guy yet?

He's too cute, definitely, with or without a full coat. ;)

I love how you describe him as a chicken breast, that's exactly how I used to explain what my girlfriend's cat looks like when he gets a summer lion cut!

Oh, the glory of owning a Persian. Is he your first? Because, let me tell you, the experience of being owned by a Persian can be summed up in one word: HAIR!
With my Angry Puss, we tried a show coat, and it was stunning, but we literally spent 2 hours every single day, brushing his blasted coat. And he still had mats forming! Not all Persians are this extreme, but be prepared for it to happen. Now AP is mantained in a lion cut, much to the amusment of the neighbors, and everyone is happier.
Careful though, a wonderful Persian might cause you to long for more. Pre-AP, I couldn't imagine ever owning something so ugly. Post-AP, I can't imagine ever owning a normal cat again instead of a beautiful persian!

I have a cat with Ragdoll type fur, so we're already used to the brushing issue:)

Abner is a sweet sweet guy, we just love him:)
