This is a link to a new video game not yet released, about bullying. The game is called "Bully" and is from the makers of "Grand Theft Auto". What do you all think about it, here are some of the questions they ask the public and my personal answers to them.

What do you think? -Well I like the games they make, but I am not going to say that they are non-violent. They are way too violent, and for them to make a bullying game is just overboard I belive. That problem is already horrible in real life.
Will kids know that Bully is a game? -Many will, yes, but everyone knows that there are those kids that like to act out what they see on tv or play on a game...(Columbine was connected to a video game)
Can they find it amusing and keep it in stride? -Again many will, but there are those who will have the monkey see monkey do syndrome. Examples: Jackass, Wrestling, Shooting games... etc.
Or do they learn that bullying is acceptable, fun, and even cool behavior?
-I believe certain kids, possibly the majority will learn that, and it is sad.
Would you let your teens play Bully? -In my opinion it all comes back to the parenting. Those kids who act out what they see on tv obviously didnt get the proper parenting from their parents. Something that happens too often nowadays. I don't have kids at the moment, but I am not too sure if i would allow my children to play. I wouldn't play, thats for sure.

That's bad news. The problem is that it's not just about rationalising their way out of it, because video games are biofeedback systems - they neurologically condition the kids for 'aim-fire-reward-feelgood'.

Also culturally ... an associate of mine showed me a video game for kids that was all about hunting people down and shooting to kill...except they weren't allowed to kill women unless they were prostitutes!...who were quite brazenly displayed. Those women they could blow away and not lose points. It was just about the sickest most disturbing piece of 'kiddy conditioning software' I've ever seen in my life.

It is quite sad. I have a neighbor that has a 10 year old girl, the father is a police officer and has all the grand theft auto games. Well when she was 7 she first brought the game over and she was like, look look theres a *****!!! Get her in the car and have sex with her and when she gets out beat her to death and see if she has any more money. !!!!WHAT!!!!! I couldnt believe it! But that is what those games are teaching our young children if we dont prevent it. (and for the record, the father would never know she would take the games to my house, she would sneak them out. If he knew, she would be in deep, she is only allowed to play when he is around. I did tell him)

Oh lordy! That's even worse!! Super-sick, criminally irresponsible, sociopathic...

Aren't these games age restricted too? Isn't it illegal that he's allowing a small child to play or even view it? You might have some leverage there...

Yea, well it is not illegal, it is illegal for a child under the age of 17-18 to buy it from the store. As soon as it is out and off of the stores premisis, they dont care who gets their hands on it. It is up to the parents. And he (the dad) had the games up in the closet, but she found them and brought them to my house, i was dumbfounded when she showed them to me. I told her that we couldnt play that game here. He's a cop just to add, so yea if it were illegal, we would all know, sadly its not and should be due to the carelessness of many parents.

I don't have a problem with those kinds of video games. Why? Because these games are NOT intended for children! It's not only kids who play video games. I saw an article on this: a surprising amount of adults 18 and older play video games. And as the "gamer generation" ages, that number is expected to increase dramatically. Many game companies are now making games that are intended for an adult audience.

Every single video game on the market has a rating on it, just like a movie. And just like a rated R movie, a rated "M" (for mature) video game has age restrictions. Children under a certain age can't even purchase or rent such a game.

What I have a problem with are ignorant parents, who just purchase a game without even taking a look at it. Like your neighbor, Chul. That game sounds like Grand Theft Auto, which has an age restriction. Why in the heck is your neighbor purchasing something like that for a 10-year-old?

I saw an 8-year-old in a video store try to buy Grand Theft Auto. The clerk wouldn't sell it to him because of the rating and age restriction. A moment later, the boy's MOTHER came into the store and yelled at the clerk for not selling the game to her son! The clerk explained why, and told her exactly the kind of violence and such that goes on in the game. The mother just blew it off and bought the game for her son.

We don't pitch any fits about rated R movies. Why do people get upset over violent video games?

If you read correctly, other than skimming through, you would see that I stated he bought it for himself and hid it in his closet. He would put it on the top shelf so she would'nt find it, she is one of those snoopy kids though. I also stated that I didn't let her play, and when her dad came to pick her up I told him. He got very upset and punished her. He took the games to his locker at work now. So... next time read the whole thing, if you can and know that he didnt buy it for her. Another thing, i hate ignorant parents as well, too many of them out there.

Chill out here... If that was my daughter, I'd drag her to the store and have a good talk with the clerk who sold it to her...or his boss!

Yea, I would too. That's a big problem too, especially when you go to the stores that have less buisness. I have one of those stores here, kids can go and buy the games, its sad. A parent tried to have it shut down, but it failed.

Very well said, Gem. Lol, like Buckshot said, spoken like a true gamer. :D

I think it's ridiculous how much people try to shelter their kids. Why does it matter if the kid plays the game once? To be honest, as far as content goes, I find video game ratings to be much stricter than movie or TV ratings. Kids see worse on television every day, I'm sure. Someone can get their head lopped off in a PG movie, but even think about saying "****" or pulling a shotgun on someone in a video game and it gets the "mature" label slapped on it.

But no . . . who am I kidding. Video games really are corrupting the nation's youth. Forget that MILLIONS of "good kids" (and millions that are no longer kids, but still play) play them. We have to single out the few bad eggs and blame the GAME for their actions.

It doesn't influence behavior that much. I play video games all the time (as a matter of fact, I started playing Mortal Kombat and Super Mario bros. with my brother when I was about 3.) and never have I thought about turning an obnoxious person into mincemeat with my chainsaw. Columbine was connected to a video game? That's a load of BS. Do you honestly think if those kids had not played the game, they wouldn't have done that?

But, people like Jack Thompson still insist that games make people vicious. I think it was him that said "Only gamers and hitmen shoot people in the face".

I imagine because for the last week, I've been stuck to my couch playing Scarface, I'm a drug dealer right?

I'm going to go out and hustle coke and shoot people and what not...

I saw adds for this new game, it looks dry to me, but I agree 100% with Gemp.

The games are NOT INTENDED for children! They're meant for older, MATURE audiences hence the rating, "M" for Mature!

I think parents need to teach their kids to make good decisions for themselves DAM***. I'm so sick of hearing about how the game or the movie caused the effin accident.

P-A-R-E-N-T-I-N-G *******************************

That is what it's all about. If a kid decides to act out recklessly because they've turned into a game from playing it so much or don't have the proper morals to make a good decision, DO NOT point at the game, POINT AT THE PARENTS!

The last thing I'm about to do is go out and shoot people because I've been playing a game. I understand that it's a game and that's the end of it. EFFIN PERIOD!

Stop blaming the games. Start pointing fingers elsewhere, like at the people that are SUPPOSED to DO things with their children. Instead of letting them spend 6 hours in front of a video game anyways! Let alone not even beginning to teach them the morals and values that they're going to need to make bigger decisions than, "The game did this, so I can."

There are much harder things out there in this world. And if you can't prepare your kid to make a choice about a video game, than I'd say they've got a lot of worse things coming.

SIGH *end rant*

Ssshh, guys, you'll blow my cover ;)

Scarface Jenn?

I'm not bad at it, but to be honest, the whole shooting thing, I get overwhelmed and scared sometimes, and just hand the controller off. ROFL It's sad but it's true!

When they chase me shooting, and I'm not all too good with the under pressure thing, especially with the messed up controls! I don't know why they did it that way... It's just scary, I get chills, and get afraid that I'm going to die and lose all the money, so I hand it off. LMFAO
