Hi,

School's about to start so the bathroom situation I setup for Flash (he's about 6 months old now) is going to be way different. I usually take him outside to go but now we're going to have him on the balcony with his crate and a potty pad (toys and water too). The problem is, he won't go on the pad. Wait no I take that back, he's gone once. But today however, he just won't go on it. He's held it in for almost 8 hours now  and still won't go. Should I just keep waiting? Or is there some other thing I can do to give him a place to go while I'm gone during the day (8am-3pm)?

I would try a doggie daycare.I am a stay at home mom so thankfully dont have that problem. If I was working or in school that would be where my 3 would go.Good luck and find something that works for you pup.

Take him out to go. He's only doing what he thinks is right by not going anywhere except outside.
You will be at school for about seven hours (8am-3pm) so he might just hold it until you get home.

make sure that you have plenty of time to take him out several times b-4 you leave for school giving him several opportunities to relieve himself.

a doggie daycare would be great though..or do you know someone that could come by at like lunch hour to take him out for you for a potty break?

I agree with champagne. If he has held it that long, and he is used to going outside, don't mess with it! When you end up visiting someone else etc, you are going to want him to be used to going on lawn, not on their balcony/porch etc. If you can't come home at lunch to walk him, and can't afford doggie daycare (which I can't, so I understand), maybe see if there is someone close by... a college student perhaps... who would have a break during the day and can just zip over and take him out for 20 minutes. He'll be better off and it shouldn't cost you much. Good luck!
