My follow up appointment is today and for whatever reason, I'm really nervous.

I'm still having pain and alot of trouble sleeping so I'm sort of worried that
A) either something is still wrong
or
B) I'm a giant wuss who can't take a little pain and will feel like a total sissy telling the doctor I still hurt.

I hate going to doctor appointments so much. I feel like crying for some reason and I don't know why. I'm not scared of the appointment or anythign that's going to be done, I'm scared of talking about stuff to my doctor.

Wish me luck. I'm still having a lot of pain in my kidney area which doesn't make any sense now that the tumor is gone unless it's just residual bruising but that doesn't seem right either since it feels like it's getting worse.

Sigh. :(

You had MAJOR surgery. You're entitled to feel pain - and to want it relieved so you can rest. You can't heal unless you can rest.

aw, sweetie!!!
Make sure you tell your doctor that your kidney pain is there and feels like it might be getting worse.
That is VERY important to tell your doctor.
Have you been up moving around more??
It's quite possible that you might be doing more than your body is ready for you to do, which might be causing you pain or delaying healing at a faster rate.
Sometimes we get so SICK of being kooked up after we've been sick for a long time, that we tend to feel like we are ALL better and want to get up and do a TON of stuff that we haven't been able to do because we've been sick.
But, if you do too much, you tend to over exert your physical strength (thinking you have more than you do) and you can possibly tire yourself and delay the healing process some.

This is what happened with me and that awful UTI. I got SO TIRED of being sick for a week, and I pushed myself doing too much housework, and I ended up going to bed and napping for like 3 hours. I did too much, too soon.

But you make sure to talk to your doctor, he/she HAS TO know what you are feeling.

Good luck!!!

Agree with everyone else. Don't fret too much. You just had major surgery, and I'm sure you're still hurting.

Please post an update when you get back! We're a bunch of worrywarts over here, LOL.

Hey, pain is something any decent doctor wants to hear about. First, because they want to make it stop, and second, because it is the body's way of alerting you that there is a problem. Your doctor should listen to you, check it out thoroughly, and then take care of whatever can be taken care of.

Please do keep us posted!!

I'm back.

The Dr didn't seem to think the pain was anything to worry much about - he said it was probably from me using different muscles to sit up with since my stomach muscles are useless. He said it's probably just a strained muscle and recommended I take ibuprofen (which I'm already doing) and using a heating pad (which I'm already doing.) I'll give it a few days, if it persists, I'm going to call back and let them know it's not getting any better.

The lab results indicated that I had precancerous cells in my cervix, but since that was removed during the operation, I'm good there. The Dr did mention though that I was still at a greater risk for vaginal cancer because of those cells. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Anyways, he wants to make sure I get religious pap smears to make sure nothing abnormal is developing. I didn't realize you could get pap smears without a cervix and uterus. Shows how much I know....I'll sheepishly admit I've coasted along far too many years without taking care of myself. This has been a huge wake up call.

I have a beast of a headache right now so I'm going to call it a day and try to make up for some of the sleep I didn't get last night. Thanks for all the good vibes and huggies and all that. :)

I hope you sleep well, Shadow. :) And I'm glad things sorta went well. If it's sore muscles, wait more than a few days - I know when I strain mine badly they take more than a couple of days to fully heal.

Glad to hear you are ok. I had my hysterectomy over 5 years ago and have a pap smear religiously every year.

My kidney was sore also, they had to move it out of the way to get to my fibroid so there was bruising. Could be some bruising in there too for you.

Whatever you do, if you are still in pain, don't let them brush you off. Too many women stay silent with their various complications and pains after a hysterectomy... don't!!

Get some well-deserved rest. =3
