 Today here in New Jersey it is pushing the 90 degree mark. While taking my Princess Petals for a walk with my daughter, we encountered 2 sweet little white dogs (I think Poodles of some sort). Anyway they were tethered to their balcony door slider. Obviously noone was home  ! No food, and No Water! I stopped as did my Petals to play with them for a moment. They were laying directly in the sun and panting. My conscience would not let me dismiss the event. I went home and came back with 2 bowls full of icy cold water for the two doggies. I then went to their door trying to get the owners attention. No one home. I went home and went online and did a reverse lookup to get their phone number and called them. No answer or machine. I got aggravated at how hot it is and how these doggies are being mistreated. I called Animal Control and told them of the situation. I asked them to pleaseeeeeeeee contact the owners and make them take the dogs inside. They agreed to do so. I sure hope they find them soon, the doggies may not make it much longer as hot as it is. I do not want to bring them in my home as they appear sickly. Besides I don't want to be accused of Doggie Knapping! Some people should not be permitted to own ANYTHING let alone a defenseless animal. END OF RANT

Good for you..to take such a stand!! I HATE when I pass a very hot car with a dog inside..makes my blood boil. I also can't stand it when my neighbor goes away and lets their dog tied up..on a small length of chain..sometimes for 2 weeks!! Yes, they have someone stop by to feed her..but geez, it's so sad to hear her cry such a moanful cry. Makes me wonder why in the world they even have a dog...just like the little dogs you encountered.......why do they have them anyway????!!!!!!! OK..now I'm mad, too.

I'm glad they had someone like you who cared enough to contact someone. Hopefully it was a one time thing and they won't do it again. I live in Florida so I know about heat. My dogs love their car rides so much and most of the time I won't take them because I feel it is too hot for them even with the AC on in the car. I hope everything turns out for the best.

Good going! Wouldn't you just love to see the owner tethered outside on the porch all day with nothing to drink? I hope the owner doesn't have or never has kids! Anyone who can't be trusted with a dog just shouldn't be trusted to raise kids.

Tethered Owners

:D Picturing owners who left their doggies outside in the heat no food, water, or toys. I am picturing them TETHERED outside whilst their little doggies watch from the window with their hair blowing from the air conditioning :D

i know that in the winter i hear on the news that everybody needs to bring their pets inside because it's against the law to have them outside when it's below a certain temperature and i was just curious if they have a common law for too hot? or maybe it's just a general no-dog-abuse type of a law...

just curious... :D

good job standing up for those poor dogs! i'm sure they appreciated it and i hope those owners get what they deserve!!

I wish it was against the law for them to be left outside when its too cold here! They just passed a law last year that they have to have a flap on the dog house so the cold air won't blow into the house, but it doesn't work! Do they not relize that dogs can freeze to death too?! It makes me so mad!

I hate it when I see dogs in cars in parking lots when I go shoping... The last time I seen a long haired mix breed in a car, windows slightly cracked and the temp reaching 90 I marched myself into that store and gave them the liscense plate and did not leave until they paged the owners to go out to there car. They were so embarresed they left. I think that's what they get...

good for you! maybe that'll keep them from trapping their dog in a steamy car for awhile! i hope so anyways! i think the whole 'how would you feel...'(in this instance, to be locked in a bar in 90 degree heat?' poses a very do or don't perspective but i guess some people just don't think about that... perves me too!!
