As a puppy, my toy poodle had fine hair. Now that his adult coat has come in, it's not as fine, and I think I'm hurting him when I brush his hair. :( I have been using a slicker brush and a comb with rotating pins. I use AvoDerm Naturals Grooming Spray to moisten the hair for brushing.

Can I get tips on what brushes/combs other people use? And I'd love to hear about other grooming sprays as well. I could use one that is hypoallergenic because so many sprays make me sneeze.

Thanks!

I dont use any sprays... on the poodles I use only a slicker brush to go through their bodies and then use a metal comb on their ears... for the yorkies I use only a metal comb. When I bathe them I use EQyss shampoo and Kiehls conditioner. I also have a small metal mustache comb for their faces.

I like the espree rainforest spray. its a leave in conditioner, cologne spray. it is lightly scented and the smell stays on for about three days. but you can use it daily if you want.

for brushes i use a slicker brush. be sure the bristles on your slicker and bent, the strait ones do not work as well. I also use a metal comb for ears.

I agree with dogarebetter, bent pin slicker for the body and comb for the ears. There's a wonderful conditioning spray called "The Stuff" that works get if you need to demat a bit.
