:D

I need some new song suggestions. I’m getting rather bored of my 2000+ song playlist lol.

What do I like? Well…

Everything from Fall Out Boy, the All American Rejects, and My Chemical Romance to Beethoven, to George Straight, to Aerosmith, to Rent, to John Williams….

Here, I’ll let you sample my playlist: AC/DC, The Academy Is, Aerosmith, The All American Rejects, AFI, The Acrtic Monkeys, The Almost, Barenaked Ladies, The Black Mages :)p), Blue October, Boys Like Girls, Buckcherry, Danny Elfman, Chris Daughtry, Dave Matthews Band, East Village Opera Company, FallOut Boy, The Foo Fighters, Gorillaz, Green Day, Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson- Williams, Howard Shore, The Killers, Linkin Park, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Modest Mouse, Motion City Soundtrack, MxPx, My Chemical Romance, Nickleback, Nobuo Uematsu (nerd moment, sorry), Panic at the Disco, Plain White T’s, Queen, The Rasmus, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, Rufus Wainwright, Say Anything, Seether, Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, Switchfoot, Three Days Grace, Weezer, Within Temptation, 3 Doors Down, etc…..

Soundtracks- Rent, Mamma Mia, Aida, The Lion King, Wicked, Sweeny Todd, Moulin Rouge, Hairspray, Chicago, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Aladdin….

Much more individual songs but those are the ones with the most songs/playthroughs. Hopefuly you've got a feel for my eclectic music taste.

I just need some ideas for some NEW listening. Anyone got any suggestions?

Pull up www.pandora.com and put any of those artists into a playlist and see what else Pandora comes up with. I've found a great many new artists this way. Also, look into The Dresden Dolls on MySpace and then see who is on their friends list. They've got a vast array of new and off the wall artists that may or may not have hit the airwaves yet. I found Regina Spektor off of Amanda's (lead of DD) Friends list.

I have to say, I now <3 <3 you muchly...your music taste has quite a few similarities with mine.

Hrm, off the top of my head (without typing out a huge list) would be The Temptations, The Beach Boys, and Iron and Wine. Perhaps Boards of Canada or Explosions in the Sky if you like that kind of music.

Ooh, I&W has a new album out, did you know? :D And so does Sons and Daughters...though it's more "dancey" than their last two.

No did not know that. The only two I have is Our Endless Numbered Days and The Sea and the Rhythym. What's the new one? Woman King? Only one I see that is new to me.

And I've never heard Sons and Daughters. Hope they have something on YouTube.

You need some Boston on your playlist. Also grab the Forest Gump soundtrack. Lots of good music on that. RTZ as well (it was the original Boston members minus Tom Sholtz). Steely Dan, Alabama, Chicago. Steve Miller Band. I see a couple of Christian bands on there. How about Jeremy Camp, Sanctus Real, Kurios, Barlow Girl or Newsboys?

Agreed on the Boston count. Also you need Beatles. And Bon Jovi. Dan Fogelburg, Creedance Clearwater Revival, STYX (maybe, they're kind of an acquired taste), Elvis maybe, Ella Fitzgerald if you like her style. Maybe some jazz in general? Smooth or else wise. Check out Miles Davis (who does not belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But good music other wise).

I don't know, it's hard to say what you'll like. You seem to have an eclectic music taste like I do.

Pavarotti for good opera (like Ave Maria, Figaro, etc.). Perhaps some Offspring? Or Pink Floyd. Guns 'n' Roses. Jet. Neil Diamond maybe. Louis Armstrong. Duke Ellington.

Jars of Clay? They're kind of good. Not a favorite of mine but they're still good. Velvet Revolvers? Velvet Underground? Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Allman Brothers, Bee Gees, The Byrds, The Clash, The Sword. Porcupine Tree. The Guess Who. The Who.

I don't know. Just went through and picked out some various artists from my playlist.

I am surprised I like this album as much as I do, but I just keep plying it over and over again. The lyrics are pretty dark, but the download is free.

Was Jacqui Naylor on your list?

No music collection is complete without Donald Fagen and lots of Steely Dan.

Journey. You gotta have some Journey. And Amanda Marshall, Amy Winehouse, Beck, Black Eyed Peas, Fiona Apple, No Doubt, One Republic, Robin Thicke, and MIKA. Gotta have some MIKA too!

Hmmm... I really like:

Acceptance
The Audition
Cartel
Boys Like Girls
The Get Up Kids
Augustana
All Time Low
Sing it Loud
The Rocket Summer
Over It
Fallout Boy
Panic! at the Disco
Starting Line
This Providence
Hit The Lights

Whew... that was off the top of my head. I don't have my Ipod with me at the moment.

Edited to say I just realized I repeated some that you already have. I guess that's a good sign.

Oooh, thanks for all the suggestions! I will have to look all these over.

Lol, I already have a bunch of Boston, though. I just forgot to list them. I raid my mom's CD collection all the time. As well as my father's (ZZ Top, The Stones, etc) lol
