The butterfly graphic is awfully distracting. I don't usually like flashing things. I think it'd be much better to put a picture of one of your dogs there instead.

I would also create some sort of header graphic, rather than the plain text.

I wish I could make the heading look a bit nicer. It is a free site with very limited options. I am currently messing around with it until I set up a proper website. I will probably set up my full website in a few months or so, so this trial run with people comments will really help.

Thanks for looking! :D

Get a real site to play with ;) I pay less than 40 dollars a year for domain name and hosting (that includes all fees, including exchange)

Oh trust me, I will. I am waiting for Riley pedigree in the post and pay day. ;)

Well, I like what you have right now :) I've seen other reputable breeders with less nice websites so I'd say you're heading in the right direction! As far as domain names with hosting, GoDaddy.com is where I got a domain for 2 years for only $14 so it's worth looking in to.

I couldn't get it to load and I'm on high speed so it's not my connection, as everything else is loading quickly.

It loaded for me.

When I look at a breeder's site I like to see pages for the boys, the girls, and posibly individual pages for each dog. Plus pages for current/future litters and past litters. I know you have a photo page, but I find it nicer if you have seperate pages. With stacked pics.

Loaded just fine for me. I agree though that instead of having a "photos" page for each dog, I'd rather see a page with information on them and the photos integrated into the page. I understand you're working with a template right now though, so you're kind of stuck. Oh, I'd change "news" to read "blog" too if you can. I was expecting news would be things like "Took the dogs to so-and-so show and Travis placed such-and-such" and stuff.

HTML is not at all hard to learn and I would definitely give it a shot before you hired somebody! htmlgoodies.com is the site I used back in the day learning and I still use it as reference for CSS. Maybe it can help you once you get an actual website set up!

I was thinking about this today and why not just make a facebook page for your breeding operation?

It would be a great way to keep everyone updated, pictures, info on each dog etc.. without the hassle or the money for now. all in a simple easy to use way that EVERYONE knows how to use practically.

plus you can make it public so everyone (even people without a facebook) can see everything.

You can just put your name as : ________ Papillons
make an album for each dog (with pictures of the dog themselves, their pedigrees, etc..), plus one album for each new litter.

status updates would serve as an easy to use quick blog lol

people interested can contact you by message/email.
and past buyers of pups can post updates on the wall

I dunnoo... I just think it would be cool! lol

I would definitely find another route. To me this site is very much a sort of starter's template, and does not come across as professional.

Check out this site to get some good ideas- their templates are free, easy to set up, functional, comprehensive, and hold a pretty decent aesthetic value most of the time. I would also recommend grabbing a Wordpress site, or even something on blogspot. While Facebook is nice for social networking, and it may be great to branch out and get a FB as well, primarily using Facebook will cause some people to divert.

I suggest using a Wordpress or Blogspot, because it is often easy to find inexpensive or free, professional looking templates for them, they are easy to access, and blog format is so great for supplying information. If you can, definitely set up staple pages in a margin or header(Objective, 'Stock Catalog', FAQ, etc. etc.), but maintain a constant update of progress, studies, and general information as well.

Hope it works out :)

As soon as I opened it my anti virus popped up saying that it was blocking a threat on the page... could be why some people's computer's froze up?

The thing with this is, it is just a template. It is my personal page for now. I am not even planning a litter until Riley finishes and has her health testing done. So I totally understand that it is pretty shitty looking. :)
I am messing around with site content etc. I wish I could change the headers etc, but alas, no.

Keep the advice coming. It is loads of help!

Do some proofing on your text. I glanced at the "News" page and there are quite a few typos (words notspaced, etc.). :) Otherwise, it's a work in progress and have fun!

It seems very immature to me, and in that, I mean lacking professional touches. The lilac/purple heading and the colorful photo is really kind of an eyesore. It doesn't say anything about who you are, why you're breeding, why you love the breed, what you do with them, your health testing, how you select homes, pedigrees, etc.. yes, I know there are some of these things that you do not even know yet, but it's something to think about having in the future before you intend your site to go live. You have photos, but I didn't see anything about the two individual dogs. Your news section isn't really a news section, it's like a blog, or articles, which is great, just change the title! I think once you are able to get your own domain and have creative freedom you will do great things with the site. :)
