Alright, I'm having a hard time deciding if I should keep Quinn on Orijen or not.

She was being fed Royal Canin while at the breeder's, and while it's not a bad food I had always planned to switch her to Orijen. She was fed the Royal Canin for almost two weeks until we were sure she settled, then we made the switch to Orijen. She goes nuts for it and is finally finishing her meals (and I like that while I'm still feeding what feels like a lot because she's a growing puppy, it's less than when I was feeding RC). I notice she's turned really gassy though (speak of the devil ... there she goes again), a problem we never had on the RC, and with Orijen upping their protein levels even more (though I'm not sure if that will affect puppy foods) I wonder if it's just too rich for her when she's this young. I'm wondering if I should go for something like Acana until she's older - not grain free but still high quality.

Orijen Puppy ingredients

75% Meat
25% Fruit and Veggies
Fresh deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, russet potato, fresh deboned salmon (a natural source of DHA and EPA), herring meal, sweet potato, peas, fresh deboned lake whitefish, salmon meal, fresh deboned walleye, chicken liver, fresh deboned turkey, chicken fat (naturally preserved with vitamin E and citric acid), fresh whole eggs, fresh deboned herring, sun-cured alfalfa, salmon oil, chicory root, dehydrated organic kelp, pumpkin, carrots, spinach, turnip greens, apples, cranberries, saskatoon berries, black currants, choline chloride, psyllium, licorice root, angelica root, fenugreek, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, peppermint leaf, chamomile flowers, dandelion, summer savory, rosemary, sea salt, vitamin supplements (vitamin A, vitamin D3, vitamin E, niacin, vitamin C, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12), mineral supplements (zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, selenium), dried Lactobacillus acidophilus product, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product.

Acana Puppy ingredients
60% Regional Meat Ingredients
20% Regional Fruits and Veggies
20% Oats & Brown Rice
Chicken meal, steamed oats, fresh free-run chicken, peas, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and rosemary), brown rice, fresh deboned salmon, chicken liver, fresh whole eggs, sun-cured alfalfa, salmon oil, pumpkin, chicken cartilage (natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin), red delicious apples, carrots, turnip greens, cranberries, Saskatoon berries, organic sea vegetables (kelp, bladderwrack, dulse), burdock root, marshmallow root, juniper berries, fenugreek, sweet fennel, angelica root, sea buckthorn, chicory root, stinging nettle, red raspberry leaf, milk thistle, peppermint leaf, marigold flowers, chamomile flowers, lactobacillus acidophilus, enterococcus faecium.

Both are good foods, but I'm just not sure what to do.
Oh, and our store has a huge selection, so feel free to make suggestions! I'm also considering maybe a Go! Natural ALS - I must admit I love how high the calorie count is, I checked online and I'd be feeding pretty much half of what I am right now.

The Go! ALS is a very nice food and feeds well, have had very good success with it over the years. I used the Acana puppy instead of Orijen on a Lab litter and liked the stool quality on Orijen WAY better! Never have had issues with gassy pups though, it might just be too rich for her.

Try decreasing the amount you feed her a little bit, that usually solves any gas issues or soft serve poop issues.

If it doesn't I'd go with the Acana all life stages grain free foods since that usually does the trick if decreasing the amount of orijen doesn't.

And yes puppy foods will be affected by the change. The only ones that won't go to 80.20. will be the regional red and senior which will be 75.25.

Thank you both!

For some reason I didn't realize how little Orijen I had left (not even enough to make a slow change over to another food). I think I'll grab another small bag this evening and try feeding her a little less and see how it goes. If I don't see an improvement I'll try the Go! Natural or Acana.

Try acana first. Usually when a dog is gassy it means the food is a bit strong for his/her tummy. :)
