I would like to commemorate my beautiful Eli's life by giving him this tribute. I lost my 12 year old baby a year ago last Tuesday. I will always have a very special place, and now a hole, in my heart for my Eli. He was the very best. As a puppy:

And here in his death:

I was traveling on business when he passed. He had been diagnosed with lymphoma and started chemo. But a few days later, passed on in his sleep while snoozing with his "pony" in Mom's hallway. She took this picture of him so I could see how peaceful he looked. I had just gotten him that pony before I left on my trip. Just the day before he passed, he was frolicking through the house with pony in his mouth shaking his head playing with it. RIP, sweet Eli...

I'm so sorry.

People who have not experienced such a loss cannot understand the depth of it.

I understand.

He will be waiting for you when you get there.

**hugs**

RIP ^Eli^

we had an old labrador at the kennels name leviathon (sp?) he was my boss's pride and joy. A labrador so large that his foot print was painted on the dog trailer for those that didn't believe..it was HUGE! HE died in his sleep, his old grizzled head on his crossed legs..at peace. It was a comfort to know he didnt ever know. I am glad Grammy took that pic for you so you could know that eli died the same way. That was a good thing for her to do.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind thoughts and words. The vet thinks he had a blood clot lodged in his heart due to the chemo treatment... he had only gone through one so far, and still was feeling ok -- playing and eating right up to the end. He was my perfect boy... both in life and in the way he died. I'm blessed for that...

Wow EliN. Had he already passed in that picture? If so, what a lucky boy he was to have had a toy and warm resting spot as he left this earth. RIP Eli.

I have tears in my eyes after reading and seeing Eli. Oh what a handsome boy he was and a very cute puppy. I know he is watching over you from doggie heaven. I know he will be close to you in your heart as my Fluffy & Brandy are in mine.

I was really torn about taking the picture . But I'm glad I did as I think it helped EliN with closure. I wasn't here when my Bubba died...and I knew how I felt. I was with him when he came into this world and with him when he died. Well, not really as he was sleeping outside of my 'puter room door , and one minute he was breathing..the next gone.

Wow, that brought tears to my eyes. It's not even been a month since I lost my bud of 13 yrs. We still have our moments and picked up her ashes a week ago, which brought up all the saddness all over again. After losing Jake I had to go out and get another dog right away(well 2), I can't survive life without dogs in it. It's weird, it's like I feel empty without a dog. They sure have been able to absorb a lot of the sadness but I still and always will miss my darling Jake. She will always have a special place in my heart. We are in the midst of building a pen in our back yard (we just recently bought a house before Jake died) and are going to plant a tree for her. I will be taking her ashes to several special spots I shared with her. It's just very difficult to say good bye. I understand your pain, you are not alone.......

Just remember that they are still with us, just not in the physical form. I guess they just want to be free of their old bodies and figure, heck, I could be having fun playing and being free.

Hugs.

Thanks, e-chick... I know what you mean... when you pick up their ashes it brings it all back that they're kind of there with you again... I have all my baby's ashes displayed proudly in their urns... along with beautiful pics of when they were in their prime. First Yogi, then Eli, then Catfish. It's so special and I can't wait to frolick with them again...

If only all animals could go to the rainbow bridge like that laying on a nice warm rug with their favorite toy next to them... I'm so sorry for your loss. I've never lost a dog (Midnite's my first), but I did lose two of my rabbits and it was the most heartbreaking moments in my life. Scout I had cremated and when I picked up his ashes I cried all the way home, it just brings back so many emotions. Sending my thoughts and prayers...

RIP Eli - he seems like he was such an amazing dog - even in his death, he radiates love, beauty and warmth. What a lucky boy he was so be loved so much by such amazing people!

I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like to lose a dog, as Oakley is our first - especially when thinking about how i was bawling at the thought of having to give him up when we had only had him for a few months. It must be so hard!
