Hello I am new on this Forum but since my experience with my Puppy I wanted to join a forum where I can read and learn somethings and be able to share what a joy my pup had brought to me...

I went to Las Vegas for New Years eve this year and had a great time, my Boyfriend and I were there for 8 days, visiting a friend and so forth, on our first day there we were at my friends house waiting to go to breakfast, her friend came over with his Pit "Nickie", they had just gone to the Dog Park there in Las Vegas and Nickie found this puppy in the trash can there, she was not more than 2-3 weeks old..(WHO DOES THAT).... We were all sad and couldnt believe that someone could be that mean, we took her to the vet, no problems healthy as could be, he thinks she is a mix between a Pit and Chow, she is so cute!
Well from there, I all ready have 2 big dogs at home didnt know if we wanted another, my boyfriend isnt to fond of Chow's, so we went the SPCA, they said that if no one took her within 2 weeks they would put her to sleep, and because she was still needing to be Bottle Feed for another 2-3 weeks most likely no on would adopt her.
So as of that moment I got myself another puppy, and I have to say I am so glad that I have her, she is the most awesome, adorable puppy I have ever seen!
So I just wanted to show her off and give her 5 min of Fame...

I have named her Missy she is now about 5 weeks

She's a darling. What an unusual color too. I've never seen a Chow that shade. She's the color of Gonzo, the Russian Blue mix cat I had for many years. Is there any blue on her tongue? I understand that's the real identifier of Chow genes. It's going to be interesting to see what she looks like when she's older since it's really almost impossible to tell about a puppy that young.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know her and hear about how she grows up.

And all the credit in the world to you and your BF for saving her life and giving her a new, wonderful one full of love.

Thank you very much!!
You know I have looked at her tongue and I dont see any spots at all, we were looking through some pictures of Chow Pups and there was one that look almost exactly like her.
We will see!

Congrats! I have a similar story....

I have a border collie/spitz mix named Kasha. The day after "trash day" in Feb. 1999, I found her in our trash can behind our prior home. She was placed in a plastic bag, the bag was tied and she was left for dead. God bless that she had the strength to chew some holes in the bag and, fortunately, I found her lifeless body before it was too late. She was infested with fleas, ticks and mites. I rushed her to the vet and he felt that she was about 4 weeks old. It took a lot of time, money and love to keep her healthy and happy.

You are a wonderful person to take on that kind of care needed for a baby animal. Kasha has been a sweet part of my life and my family loves her dearly. GOOD FOR YOU!

That is one cute puppy! The ears remind me of my huskies when she was a pup, but at that age they all look like that!

God Bless You for saving this precious puppy. He is PRECIOUS! Does he have blue eyes? One pic looked like he might. If so, could have some husky in him? He's precious. Congrats!!

Here's something interesting, EliNHunter - when they're that young -way before they should be away from their mothers :( - their eyes are blue, like kittens. They'll change in a few weeks.

I still fume when I think of people treating him that way!

Is he voiding on his own now, Mrs.Blondie? If so, keep track of how soon after he eats he goes, then you can start putting him on the paper or pad (since he's so very young) when it's about time. Talk to him gently and it will help him to start off on the right foot when it's time for more serious house training. Right now he's too young to really do anything too strenuous.

She is so adorable and cute. I still can't believe someone can dump a puppy in the trash can especially in Nevada. I hope it wasn't supper hot or freezing.

Renee75Oil-- That is basically what I am doing we are in the process of changing from the bottel to puppy food, which is going really well, I think she likes food better, (or maybe its the mess she gets to make)..
it is just making the bathroom thing a little hard now, it just seems like everytime I turn around....AHHH another mess! .....Its ok though, my BF and I went shopping last night and bought alot of stuff, he got some of those pads that smell like grass that we are going to try and use, but she already knows that outside is where we would want her to go, I try and take her out the front door at least once ever 1/2 hour (that she is awake) and she always goes potty out there...
I dont know, it just seems like it is going to get really hard in the next couple days..the food change is what is making it hard, anybody know how long that takes to where her body is used to eating differant food?

Just like newborn babies, they're eyes will almost always be blue then change within the first year. Its wonderful what your doing Mrs.Blondie. Good Luck ! and that's a very very lucky puppy you have there !
