OMG! It is so funny how they both stare in the terrarium of the snake! What kind of a snake is it and how old is it? Man....poor little mouse! But I guess that's nature, right? Though I don't know anything about feeding live vs dead mice. Is it kinda like a bottle vs. breastfeeding debate? lol

Well feeding live isn't neccasarily wise. The mouse can severely injure the snake and cause the snake to have feeding problems. The easiest way to feed rats or mice is to bring them home (live or dead). If they are still alive you will have to put them down yourself (I found when I worked at the petstore if you hit their backs just right they would die) then temp your snake to eat the mice or rat with tongs. Make the movement as though the animal is still alive and when the snake latches on struggle for a little bit before letting go of the animal with the tongs and letting the snake eat it's kill. That way your snake still believes that it killed the animal.

I am also against feeding live food... I've seen the damage that a mouse can do to a snake. My fiancee works for a vet clinic, and a woman brought in her ball python who had been fed live food... the mouse injured him so badly he had to have his part of his tail amputated...and he was lucky he survived... very sad :(
We have a ball python, and we feed frozen. You can also get live feeders and prekill them if your snake won't eat frozen.

Anyway, your kitties are very cute! I love how they are intently watching the terrarium! Hehe :D

feeding live is just insane. Why on earth would you subject an animal to such a death AND take the risk to the pet you proclaim to care enough to go the expense of care. Honestly, which way would you prefer to die, quickly and humanely, there are several ways to kill a rodent that produces instant death, or with fangs that i can guarantee from my own exprience that hurt like hell. Usually it is because the human is too insecure to kill the victim themselves so they let it suffer on the other end. Shakes head and sighs.
