Awww....they're so cute!!!

I have a Dachshund and he's the first one that I've had. I LOVE him!!!! He's the best dog that I've ever had. I will always have one from now on. He's so smart,loyal,loving,fun,adorable,clean...the list goes on and on.

Well they dont show them and, im not sure if they are registered. They are just at home pets.
Somone, awhile ago stole that father in the picture when the mother was pregnate with two puppies, one of the puppies up in the lower picture. They sold the girl puppy and kept the boy thats in the picture.

Well, chances are your friends are an uneducated BYB.

The dogs are cute:), but that alone is not a good reason to breed.

Backyard breeder, to sum it up nicely, is a bad breeder. A breeder that does not properly health test, may or may not have registered dogs, does not show, and is not breeding to improve the breed. BYBs do not place their puppies in proper homes, and BYBs tend to play a very large role in the number of unwanted dogs dying in shelters everyday.

well she only sells her pups to family or friends to make sure they got a good home. I was surprised to see that they where well bred dogs, really they are! they have been breeding alot only cuz her dog only has one or two puppies. They are going to stop breeding because her dog is getting old and they now only have a boy pup.

Sooner or later she will run out of family and friends. And just because a person is family or a friend does not automatically make them a responsible dog owner. ;)

What does "well bred" mean to you?

I'm glad that your friend, though a BYB, has the sensibility to stop breeding when the dog becomes too old. BTW, how old IS her dog?

9! and they are just now stopping breeding?

Anyone that breeds without health testing (OFA, CERF at minimum and other tests breed dependent) without showing (AKC, UKC, Obedience, etc) and without a firm knowledge of the breed (what they have, what they want to improve upon, the pedigree and what it represents for genotype etc) is not responsible and is abusing dogs as far as I am concerned.

Poor little doggies :(

But pugpuppy, how do you ensure good health of the puppies if they are not health testing?

And what is nice features? From the pictures you have shown, conformationally speaking, that dog has plenty of faults.

Please do not take this as an attack, but instead a learning oppurtunity. ;)

There is and was no need to stop they are all healthy dogs NONE of them have died of health issues! I said i wasnt sure that the dog that they started breeding way before was registered, it might have been, cause it was a really beautiful dog.The beautifull dog has died of old age a long time ago. These dogs are bred down from generation to generation!

wat we mean is, are the dogs close to the daschund breed standard and do they have any health defects in their anscestry, like do they have any defects they could pass down.
you should only breed to better the standard of the dogs and by how many litters their having htey really sound like BYBs
i'd stear right clear of buying puppies from these people.
