Hi, my 5 month old dog sleeps in the same room as me and my wife. everyday at 7am he comes and wakes me up so i could take him for his morning walk. the timing is nice because my alarm usually wakes me at 7:15 so i dont mind waking up 15 minutes earlier.

The problem is a week after he started that habbit he started to wake me up at 6AM. If that wasn't bad enough a couple of days later he started waking me up at 5AM! Taking him downstairs to pee is usually a 10 minute thing and I come back home and sleep but its still annoying to be woken up at 5 when I go to bed at 1.

Anyone know why he is starting to wake me up at 5 not 7 anymore? My own theory is that when he stays till 7am not peeing he is trying his best to hold it in. Then after he realized the only thing he needs to do to go down and pee is to wake me up so now he wakes me up when he feels like peeing which is at 5AM (his last walk is 12am). Tonight I am going to try shoving him off and ignoring him. Hopefully he wont pee at home and will let me sleep till 7...

that's good, you don't need a alarm clock anymore.

You know my dog never wakes me up, but I wake him up by yelling at him!

every morning 6am, on the dot. (well, give or take 6 min) my pup wakes me up. I think that he knows that if I get up before then, he goes out, then back to the kennel so I can go back to sleep. he is a persistant little bugger, though. !!

I'm assuming that your dog isn't in a crate. My suggestion is to crate train the dog. One the dog is sleeping in the crate, if he wakes up in the night and makes noise to go out, take him out and then immediately back into the crate. No walk, etc, just enough time to do his business. He will figure out that it isn't walk time until 7am and will start to get on a schedule. We did this with our puppy and she never makes noise at night. I take her out at the same time every day and just give her enough time to go and then bring her back in. She is now on a schedule and knows that she will get her walk LATER.
