My dog has threw up white stuff a few times over the last few months and i was just wondering if that is normal.

It is a milky and sort of thick!!!

That's really gross I know ~ sorry!

Could it be the type of food I feed her?

What do you feed her,how much and at what times? When does she throw up? Right after eating,in the morning at night?

A lot of dogs do it if their stomach is empty.

I feed her kibbles and bits bc that what the other dog eats and she wont eat anything else!
I feed her 2 times a day once int he morning and then again when i get home.

She throws up evey now and then it's not just b4 or after she eats its just random

A few months ago she got a piece of mulch stuck in her throught I wonder if that did something to her.

The most common causes of occasional vomiting are probably the inflammatory bowel diseases and functional obstructions of the pylorus (the muscular valve between the stomach and the intestines). Intestinal parasites, ulcers, liver and kidney disease and other diseases can lead to occasional vomiting. Indiscreet eating habits such as eating foods that may be spoiled, eating to much at once, eating objects not meant to be eaten like rocks and other eating habits that can irritate the digestive tract probably account for a number of cases of occasional vomiting as well. You should discuss this further with your VET.

I never give my dogs people food

The eating objects like mulch and rocks is a problem with her tho.
I am aleasy having to stop her from doing that.
And she does eat fast bc of the other dog.

Thanks!!!

you can try breaking her food up into smaller meals and try getting her on a better food. She will eventually eat somethign else,I've yet to see a dog starve itself:p Go to the food forum and you should be able to find some more info.

How long has this been going on? Only after the mulch? I guess it could have made her throat more sensative but I'd think it would ahve healed by now and given mroe of a problem when the scar tissue was forming. How far down was it?

I wouldn't be overly concern if my dog threw up a few times in the last couple months. Though I can see how nerve wraking it can be. When you say it's a white substance, do you mean it's kind of slimy? I'm wondering if it's more phlegm that she's coughing up?

xxxpoo - Did you say you're a vet? Funny how what you just wrote is exactly what Dr Mike Richards wrote word for word on the Ask Dr Mike site. Huuummm?? You may want to link your info next time, don't want to look as though you are plagiarizing.

She stopped breathing it was tuck down in there pretty far!!!

I had to work for a while to get it out

I thought she was going to die

yes it the throwing up started after the mulch

and i started feeding them the kibbles and bits a few months ago after taking them to my aunts house and they ate her dogs food. They loved it and didnt want their food after that so i got that kind for them.

I guess I will start off by changing their food

Thanks
