My dog poops A LOT

My dog Belevder is a boston terrier/beagle mix. I feed him Science diet and have been for almost a year now. I dont understand it but he poops so freakin much. Its like everytime I turn around he has pacing around my room getting ready to drop the deuce. Whats weird is my other dog doesn't have to poo as much, but they eat the same thing. I dont give him a bunch of junk either, just a couple of treats and a rawhide or a greenie everynow and then. I dont over feed him either. Also he farts a lot too and the smell is overwhelming. I think it mught be the food, but he has a super weak stomach and science diet is the only food that gives him a somewhat firm stool.

When we got him they were feeding him pedigree, but I changed to Innova. I started him on Innova slowly, but even still Innova would give him mudd butt, it was nasty. After Innova I accidently gave him Science diet once and instantly he had a normal stool. So I was like "Sweet, firm poop". Which Im still happy for until this day, but its A LOT of Firm poop. Does any one else have this problem?

None here. My bunch eats the Innova EVO. My 130+ pounders have less stool than most people's 45 pound dogs, and firm.

If you're having this kind of problem, you can almost bet it's food though. Science DIEt just doesn't use good ingredients.

Try mixing a little bit of canned pumpkin in with his food. I also stand behind the Innova Evo.... sometimes it takes longer for some dogs to switch. HOw long did you have him on Innova?

There are several different formulations of the Innova. NaturaPet also makes Karma and another label, both very high quality. Canidae and Eagle Pack are also far better choices than Science DIEt. One food isn't necessarily perfect for every dog.

My guy goes 2-3 times a day, total over a day he poops just under one full doggie poop bag. He's 140 pounds.

If your dogs had loose stools on Innova, it could have been the case that you were simply feeding too much.

My dog poops about once a day, sometimes 2wice. She has firm solid poop. I have her on Natural Balance and it works really well for her! *i only feed once a day*

Any dog food that contains soy will make a dog poop twice as much as a food that does NOT contain soy. I seem to recollect that S.D. Has soy in it??

Otto is also on Science Diet and he goes all the tim too. I am planning on switching him over to Innova as soon as this bag is gone.

It's because science diet has way too many fillers, so there is lots of waste. The reason your dog got diarrhea on Innova is probably because intestines take a while to get used to a better food - it's the same for humans really. Or, as Mordy said, you were feeing too much (you need to feed about half of what you feed with SD).

I feed my dogs Blue Buffalo in the morning and a raw meaty bone at night. They are almost down to a schedule in their pooping. They usually poop first thing in the morning and one more time at night.

I guess I'll have to try switching back to innova then. Maybe I was ffeding too much, I dont really remember, but Im pretty sure it was that much.

my dog poops 5-6 times a day!

I have a 8 month old Maltese she weighs about 5 lbs and poops 5-6 times A DAY!!! She farts all the time too! I feed her half a can of ceasers wet food mixed with her science diet dry food once in the morning and once at night. I dont know what to do. She also gets diareah very easily too! Is there something wrong with her??

Wrigley is 15lbs and eats Eagle Pack Holistics Lamb and Rice and poops firm twice daily. I recommend Eagle Pack. They also have a powder you can add to their food the make the switch work better for those pups with problem stomachs.
