Poor dog. If your child wouldn't eat or drink would you take them to the doctor? You should do the same with your dog. Force him to drink. it will be a little bit of work for you but I think it should be worth it to help your dog. if you aren't willing to take him to the vet at least do everything you can at home to make him comfortable. You really should take him to the vet though. if you love him you will do the right thing for him

I am all for the training, behavior, nutrition, breeding, grooming etc.. but, I really hate when a dog is in trouble, and people come to a forum, before a vet. We are not vets, and those of us who even come kinda close, should still not give med. advice, except....go to the vet.

Just because this person had the dog 12 years, that does not mean he/she can know if the dog is in pain. Dogs are bred to hide it well, they are made that way... that is why you seek medical attention and then write about it after the fact.

To the original poster.. I know animals very well, that didn't save my boxer, which he showed NO symptoms....even a very educated animal person may not notice...when there are no symptoms, and he ate, drank, went out to potty, played and everything else, then one moment,,,,boom...my worst nightmare, 6 hours later, I was putting him down. Don't go to a forum for medical advice, esp. when your dog is a senior. Common sense..
