Keep my father's dog in yr prayers for a full recovery!.
He went in a badger burrow and got chewed up!.
My father's standard dackshund was attacked by 2 badgers and came out of it,in a very bad state!.
He was bitten in several places on his face, body and tail and might lose his tail. He's full of stitches but is in good spirit!.
Here is a picture of him!:

That is just terrible. Poor thing. I will defnitely keep him in my thoughts and hope he will heal up without complications. What a creepy thing. Those little guys are too brave and tenacious for their own good sometimes.

Wishing him a full recovery. If you are a Dachshund, doing your job can be dangerous! He is a lovely dog in that photo.

Indeed!.
He's 8 yrs, lives in France and has been hunting all his life.but it's the 1st time,he really got hurt!.
Doing his job,didn't pay,this time!!!.
When they took him to the vet, there was another standard wirehair dakshund who had gone after a wild boar and also, got hurt!.
On a funny note,it turned out that they, both, came from the same breeder!.
In Europe, badgers are suppose to be bigger(about 90cms,going from head to tip of tail) than the American(about 60cms) which I didn't know.
Badgers are also protected which I didn't know so they are,all over the place!.

I'm not normally a Dachshund fan, but I LOVE working Dachshunds and that is one cute little dog! I really like the wire-haired variety.

I've had some dogs get injured while hog hunting, the worst non-fatal injury was a punctured lung, and they pull through just fine. It's amazing the tenacity of dogs when they follow their instincts. Little buggars.

I wish him a speedy recovery!

Poor little guy. I had to chuckle though, since he was doing his job and got ganged up on. My 3 dachshunds would be scared of a badger. Heal fast and go back after those badgers!

Poor guy hope he recovers soon.
I wonder when the badger problem become so bad that they lift the ban on hunting them again, even with restricted hunting.

Amazingly enough,he was never trained to hunt as badgers are protected animals!.
He,just,takes off,everyday,for a couple of hours!!.
You can, usually, hear him hunt as he's pretty loud and he comes, regularly, with parts of his preys!.

Surviving a run in with badgers...tough little cookie. I hope he recovers quickly.
I love these little wire haired guys...one of the breeds on my 'maybe some day' list. So adorable.
