They had some live mussels at the grocery store yesterday. They're one of my weaknesses, and the stores here rarely carry them. I bought two pounds. Sauteed them in tomatos, green onion onions, tumeric, white wine, salt and pepper.

And I ate them ALL. All two pounds! :yikes:

Gawd, I am so greedy when it comes to mussels. Oh well, I console myself by saying 1) it was mostly shell, and 2) it was low-carb.

Anybody else like mussels?

Nope! LOL! But it is awesome to find something you love and then eat it all for yourself. I am like that with calamari tenticles.

When I was younger we went to France and I ordered eggs and they gave me mussels. I ate every single one out of this big bucket thing they gave. When we got back to Holland my dad ordered them without me knowing but the waiter slipped up when I was finished.

My face was like :yikes::yikes: and haven't touched them since (ruined my taste for eggs as well :lol-sign:)

I've always admired people that can eat them, they taste delicious (and your description is making my mouth water), but I just can't :rofl1:

You guys are getting me hungry!

If you love mussels, you must try some San Francisco cioppino (cho-pee-no). It's a tomato-based, somewhat Italian-style seafood stew. It has all kinds of seafood in it, including mussels, shrimp, fish and clams. In San Fran, they serve it with a hot loaf of crusty sourdough bread. *swoon*

I LOVE them... but I haven't eaten them for a while, because I myself have eaten about pounds before.

DIE. Please. (See? I'm polite.)

No, really. There has to be SOME penalty for posting pictures of that when I haven't had ANYTHING to eat ALL DAY and it actually made me cry (tears.. really) because I KNOW I can't cook anything that even LOOKS that delicious even if I actually had the ingredients for it.

I could a zebra right now.... I'm THAT hungry... and there's nothing that looks good to eat. Or even edible, really. All we have is junk food for the poker game tomorrow.

Then, Nolu, aren't you glad I didn't post pics of the scallops I marinated in a light citrus, ginger and soy, pan cooked in some sesame oil and tossed on a bed of baby greens with red onions, mandarin oranges, roasted soy beans, feta cheese and ginger chardonnay vinaigrette. With a nice piece of warmed whole grain boule.

It really needed some wine to go with it.

Seriously.

Uh huh.

Go ban yourself now, LOL!

Okay, and just so I don't have TWO posts that don't actually relate to the thread.. what exactly is a mussel? Are they those squishy, tasty things in the long, oval-shaped shells? Because I love those.
