I only have one dog at the moment but we are definately wanting to get a second dog once our lives settle down. Teddy loves the company of other dogs male or female and he is young and has endless energy as well. They can entertain and tire each other out lol. He needs a friend to keep him company when I am busy. but I agree that it is double the work the cost and everything else but I most definately think it is worth it :D

I kinda went about the whole thing in a "dumb" way. We weren't planning to have more than one dog at a time when we adopted Tamlyn. Puppy cravings did me in last August, almost 8 years later. I went to the shelter and found Cissy, fell in love, and brought her cute little bootie home.

Sometimes I do regret it when she has an accident or is behaving like a little brat. Later that day, they'll be splayed out on the living room floor butt to butt and I realize I wouldn't want it any other way.

Sure, it's more work, more money, more food, more time, and sometimes even more headache. Once you get past all that triviality, you see the many good times they have together. You can sense the bond between them and how, even though they seem to hate each other at times, they'll "have each others back" if they need it. And that to me is worth more than any of the money, time, food or headache.

heh....sorry for the ramble-post.....

I got one today! She is a SWEET little pup of 8 weeks. She is some kind of shepard mix. The mother was also on site at the shelter, so I got a pretty good idea of what she might look like as an adult. She resembles her mother very much, who is about 35 pounds (exactly the size that I was looking for). I just wish that I could figure out how to post pictures???

P.S.
This is her first night home and I am having a TERRIBLE time with the house breaking :(

Congrats with the new pup,
Don't expect too much too soon, with the housebreaking.:D
I feel so sorry for the mama dog, and pups at the shelter. How many did she have? I guess someone just took them all in cause they did want them anymore?

As for posting pictures:

After they are uploaded into your account there will be a list of three url addresses under the thumbnail pictures. Go to the third one down and "copy"
then come here and start a post and just "paste" it in your post.

Your pictures should show up, when you hit the "preview post" button or the "submit reply" button.

I love having two dogs....Twice the love but sometimes I think Athena resents me bringing another dog into our home. She doesn't seem as close to me as she used to. She does however like Sal and they play a lot so I think overall for her it has been a good thing. Also I would never regret getting Sal because he has been a blessing for me.

I'd highly recommend having more than one dog, especially if you work during the day. My dogs love each other. They're best friends and keep themselves very busy.

I have three dogs, all females. I can't imagine having just one dog. If you're planning on getting a female, I definitely reccomend getting one that's spayed. You do not want a dog that is in heat...especially if you have other dogs, too.

How about 20?!!

Congratulations on the new puppy - and good luck with the housebreaking!! I would have definitely recommended more than one dog - I have 20 (yes, that's right!) - 13 full grown bhutias and 7 puppies...

I wouldn't recommend having that many though - grooming takes forever and training is next to impossible!

How is Cody taking to the new addition?

Actually Cody is doing very well with her. They seem to get along just great. I just get a little nervous when they start to play because she is so small and fragile. So far, so good.

I would have no quarells about having multiple dogs in my household. Just haven't run across the "next" pup yet. If you feel in your heart you can divide your love and attention to each equally, then you know the answer to your question. Good Luck
