I'm still too traumatized to watch it again in an attempt to figure out what on earth was going on.

And yes to 500 Days of Summer!!
Clockwork Orange is supremely messed up, but excellent. Not unlike Stanley Kubrick himself :p

Fight club was my first thought, lol. Otherwise, if you like murder, No Country for Old Men and Reservoir Dogs should be up there. I'll have to think of a couple others too.

OK definitely no drugs, sex or murder (well, there is some murder) so maybe not for you, but just generally The Princess Bride is a must see! I get super disappointed whenever someone says they haven't seen this movie - it's such a classic and so freaking funny. Plus, by seeing it you'll understand all the references to it that pop up in other movies/shows.
You are like my favorite person ever. Just wanted you to know that. I saw this thread last night and didn't respond because I figured just chanting "The Princess Bride! The Princess Bride! The Princess BRIDE!" wasn't the most helpful post.

Anyways I third Secondhand Lions.

I also love Shawn of the Dead, Bandits, Serenity, Death at a Funeral the British version had me rolling, Conspiracy Theory is always a fun one. Ummm I don't do good thinking of things when actually asked.

Hmm... well I don't know your particular style of movies you like.

I watched Come See The Paradise with Dennis Quaid (made in 1990) the other day and don't know HOW it went under the radar. I thought it was so good. I made my mom and grandma watch it, too, and they loved it. I wouldn't say the acting was like spectacular but Dennis Quaid is a favorite of mine anyways. The first half of the movie is more of a love story, I suppose, but then it turns into a "history lesson", having to do with WWII and Japanese culture. I thought it was great.

EVERYONE has to see Forrest Gump, lol. One of my favorite movies ever. Tom Hanks is the man.

I always have loved Matchstick Men with Nicolas Cage. Another movie that, I feel like, went under the radar but it was great. A con man movie, gotta love it. Loved the ending, the suspense, great movie, IMO.

Let the Right One In (or if you simply cannot abide by subtitles, Let Me In. You will not regret it.)

Watership Down (80s animation at its very best)

Slither (a fun campy horror film with a terrific cast)

No Country for Old Men (absolutely heartstopping at times)

Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog (fun fun fun, again with a fantastic cast and a helluva writing team)

Sunshine (by the director of Trainspotting -- really brilliant at points)

I don't know if you like indie movies (these aren't murder/drugs/badstuff movies either lol) but I love Penelope, Dakota Skye, MirrorMask and 500 Days of Summer.
Second MirrorMask enthusiastically!

I'll add Quills, Ever After, The Red Violin, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Dust, V, Pride and Prejudice, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (all of them), Once Upon a Time in China, El Mariachi. I also love Prospero's Book, but I doubt anyone else would

Oh, and for cheese, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. :D "Remember, no matter where you go, there you are."

Oh, and Erik the Viking.
