.... but Kaylee can still take him down with ease, even with a broken foot. ;)

And completely random... Talla's bizarre fifth toe. (They're not really dewclaws... they have phalanx bones and full muscle involvement. She can move them at will. TBH, they kind of freak me out sometimes.)

Talla was a stray in Mexico, right? Only asking because I think Norwegian Lundehunds have toes like that for climbing rock formations when hunting Puffians.

Yep, she was a street dog from Mexico. Oddly enough, I have a very old (and unfortunately quite racist) book whose story is set in Mexico. Functional rear fifth toes on dogs are mentioned by one of the characters in the book.

Stark is growing up entirely too fast. Make him stop it. (I love his ear posts lol. I think those are completely adorable!)

How did Kaylee break her foot? Lure coursing? I think I remember something about that either here or on your blog. Hope she's healing up well! Ozzy broke his toes once (well, they were broken for him by an attacking dog) and it took quite a while before they were back to full functionality. I think you said you were wrapping her feet though, that should help. Ozzy would remove every wrap we put on his foot, we even vet wrapped and then put duct tape around it and he still got the dang thing off. The vet finally told us to just let him be and let it heal on it's own. I think it took around six to eight weeks.

Tallas toe is amazing. I also can't stop looking at it. I'd love to see a picture of it actually in action (say on a tree stump if you still have that in your yard lol) Does it ever touch the ground like dew claws do when she's running? That is so incredibly fascinating!!!

Yep, broke while lure coursing. Lots of contributing factors - hard field, inexperienced lure op, incorrectly strung pulleys, a sharp turn in the course, and the fact that Kaylee is a lightning-fast dog was apparently a recipe for a broken toe.

She's healing well. I've got a small bit of elastikon on her foot, just because she seems to be aggravating it when she goes out to potty. She definitely doesn't believe she's hurt!
