Miracle dog saves owner
A dog owner had a lucky escape after her pet, who had just recovered from a vicious cancer, saved her from a chip pan fire.
Willow the dog was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive cancer called histiocytic sarcoma last year and vets suggested she should be put to sleep.
But owner Martine Lettau, from Great Livermere, searched the Internet and found a similar case in America where the dog survived, thanks to alternative therapies.
Using regular injections of mistletoe extract, Martine said she saw a major improvement in Willow within 40 days and is now getting ready for the final x-rays to give the all clear.
Now, six-year-old Willow has paid her owner back by alerting her to a fire that could have burned their house down.
Martine said: "I was cooking dinner and doing two or three things at once, including putting a pan with some oil on the stove.
"I got distracted answering an email but it had only been 10 minutes when I heard the dog barking.
"I rushed to the kitchen and there was thick black smoke and a 2ft high flame."
Martine managed to put out the fire herself but she described it as a 'miracle' that Willow was there to save her.
