Maybe someone here can help me. At our shelter, we see dogs that look similar to miniature Australian Cattle Dogs. They always have docked tails, and I have seen them in both red and blue. They weigh right around 20 lbs. The reason that I ask is that I have seen probably 20 of them in 5 years. Is this some breed I was unaware of? They look very similar to this:

This is not the best picture of Hazel, but you can see a little of the blue on her back. She also is shaped very similar to a Cattle Dog, but her face is different. But some of the others have been dead on for a Cattle dog. I guess all these dogs could be coming from the same home or BYB, but there are so many.

Anything is possible. I just googled mini Australian cattle dogs and didn't get any hits. Just mini Australian shepards which I knew already existed. They started breeding ACD's with a poodle for a hypo-allergenic version *ugh*! I'm sure there are breeders out there breeding small ACD's. I have seen and heard ACD's that weigh 30lbs to 70lbs and those are purebred. My guy weighs 65lbs and his dad weighs 67lbs and is a finished grand champion so the weight can vary dramatically. The dog in the picture on petfinder looks like a beagle/ACD mix. Definately has ACD though.

Looks like its part corgi to me. That would explain the size, and also some of the darker marking and more color on the face. Plus corgis come in all different colors. Even blue merle. It could be someone who own a cattle dog and/or corgi that keeps getting bred? I dont know.

I think petfinder label their dogs for popular searches.. I entered Golden Retriever and Ollie came up as Golden/poodle ...... he isn't.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't think they could be a breed, but we see one about every 6 months. Probably just two unfixed family pets that keep getting together.
