Mine is a Catahoula

Yep, he is a big dark, glass-eyed mutt. Catahoula and Black Mouth Cur, commonly used in this part of Texas as a Pig Dog. Pigs hate 'um, but this one has probably never seen or chased a pig. He is limited to skunks, possums, 'dillos and a few turkey and deer. He loves to bark at coyotes.

I have a few catahoulas that I have trained out here in the west. They are really great dogs--sometimes high energy but really sweet and responsive.

are you sure they weren't leopard curs? a properly bred catahoula should NEVER be sweet & responsive to a normal adult stranger. on their own property they should be downright hostile like a fila in a smaller more agile package. off property they should have a tolerant dislike of strangers but avoid interaction with them. a properly bred catahoula should be impossible to steal.
leopard curs OTH should be mild mannered enough for anyone to deal with.
