milos gone bonkers.

so, milo has recently been going crazy, he's usually a funny pup, he kind of jokes around ( it looks like he smiling ) but recently since i started going back to school and working (after school i go straight to work & i dont get home till about 7pm.) he's been acting really grumpy with my family. (dont worry hes never left alone) before i go to bed my mom comes in to say goodnite and he starts to growl as if he wants it to be only us two in the room and when someone tries to go near me and im already tucked in, he just well, tries to bite! he only does this when im in bed or when someone tries to wake me up. whats going on ? how can i stop this from going on . i dont want him to be a naughty pup either!

He needs to know this behavior is unacceptable. If he is on your bed, keep him off, he needs to know his place in the family, and that's at the bottom of the barrel. If he growls when someone tries to approach you, say "no" very firmly while tapping him on the nose or maybe using a spray bottle. You say this only happens when you're in bed, maybe the best thing to do is to keep him out of the bedroom while you are in bed.

I've heard that you shouldn't correct a dog for growling, that it can cause them to skip the growl and go right to a bite.

On the rare occasion when one of my boys gets snarky with someone, I know it's because they don't want to share me. If it's Aspen, I tell him that's not acceptable & put him off my lap. If he tries to get back on, I won't let him until he calms down. I'm not sure I agree with the correcting the growling but he's got to know that that behavior is not acceptable.

thank you guys. ill tell him its not acceptable. he sleeps with me in the bed so i dont think its him being on the bed i know its sharing me he wants me all to him self.! hes very greedy when it comes to sleepy time because he knows its our time lol thank you for replying!
