I am sure this has been asked.......how many military types do we have on here? What branches? Professions?

Personally, I am US Air Force (for about 1 1/2 more years, anyway). I do electrical engineering for the electronics warfare group. A.k.a. I design radar jamming techniques for our fighter jets so they don't get shot out of the sky. It can be quite fun. Besides, it is nice to say I am military and I SAVE lives. :D

Im not in the military myself, but my father was a 30 year Weapons Technician in the Canadian Forces

Needless to say most of my upbringing was military, living on bases with troops, tanks, choppers, hercs, gunfire, artillery fire, heavy weaponry fire, and etc.

However you quickly develope a thick skin, discipline and learn how to not to make friends to much because you know you are moving each year or 2. I dunno, I never really liked the military life at all.

I myself am never going to join.

Well, I got pretty lucky. Where I should have to move after 3 years here, I am on a controlled 4 year tour. That will take me to the end of my obligation. Then I get to stay here as a civial servant. GS-12 isn't a bad place to start. Frankly I would rather live back in Pennsylvania, but it looks like I might be staying here in the Florida panhandle forever. I miss the north!

Hey...I'm not in the military, but my hubby is a Marine. So as a "Moto-wife" I'm kinda involved ;)

Before I got married I used to work for the German Military though.

I dwould dislike it VERY much if I was in the army, taking orders from Bush... (no offence to anybody that support him!)

Spoken just like a person who has NO CLUE what military SERVICE is about. Come back after you grow up a little... Unless of course you would like to expand on your statement.

How classic that you feel the need to "apologize" to any one who "supports" him. If you have honest and sincere opinions on the matter, you would not feel the need to apologize to anyone who might have been offended by them.

why fight with a kid?

Anyways no im not in the Military. But my brother was in the army it was nothing special even to him. He was a chef but he eventually had to leave because his knee got screwed up in training. Sometimes he says he would like to be fighting over in Irac trying to help. But other times he is thankful he got hurt when he did.

Im antiwar but I do support our troops jsut because it could just as easily be my brother there.

Still don't see the point in taking it personally.

From what you say, I am glad he is no longer in the Army. Indecisive people cause casualties.

I have said this many times before...

It is impossible to be both "Anti-War" AND "I support the troops". Especially in the type of conflict we are currently engaged in. Why? Because the enemy has CNN too. They see that our people are not behind the effort. This emboldens them to keep fighting and encourages new recruits to join. Trust me, i've been involved in a "unpopular" conflict... I have seen what it does.

Now, I know what you are thinking.... Being "Anti-War" is NOT an unpatriotic stance. Our freedoms apply to all and I encourage you to voice your opinions. To do anything but that would denegrate the sacrifice of the good men and women who have died to provide it to you. Just think long and hard about WHY you are Anti-War.

Read my signature. Think about it. Think about it knowing that this enemy we currently are fighting has said.. "...we will not stop until the whole Earth is one Islamic Nation."

I just really don't care on the other points. I mean thats your life and thats great. But its not going to stop me from beleiving what Im beleiving or saying what I say. Im antiwar because I think its wrong simple as that im anti violence and so in turn comes antiwar. And I can still support the the troops to a point.

These are my beleifs so why try and argue them?

You know growing up military gives me a quite the view on this.

Alot of people dont want to be in the military, and rightly so its not for everyone, But someone has to do it and they need to be there

Alot of people do like to be in the military, for stability, dicipline, standing up for ones country, and reliability, but there is always the possibility of being called to action.

To tell you the truth its a double edged sword, lets face it we would be screwed without military, but on the other hand we may not need to spring them into action, IMO better safe than sorry.

Everyone has their choices and reasons for them, lets not prod at each other.

First in my familly to join the USMC, never made it out of Boot though.

I cant grasp how one can suport our troops without suporting their mission.

On the same note if there are troops in the fleet that dont back the mission they should be stateside and not in the field for the safety of those in the fleet that believe in the mission.

Without war we would would the United States exist? Without war would the United States stand as we do today.

Somebody give me a case where non violence has brought lasting peace between 2 countries.
