How does his punishement exceed his deeds? He trafficked in illegal gambling backed on the pain and death of dogs. That's some pretty harsh stuff right there.
i don't believe his sentence has much at all to do with animal cruelty. weren't the charges for illegal gambling? if he hadn't pretty much given the judge the finger with his positive drug test and blatant lies, he probably wouldn't have gotten nearly as much of a sentence.
Specifically, he pled guilty to: "conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture." So it was ferderal conspiracy charge more than anything else. It just happened to stem from dog fighting in this case.
Hard to say if it's fair, given that what he's really being sentenced for (conspiracy) isn't exactly what we're angry with him for (animal cruelty). If you remove the emotional aspect from it and just look at what he did from a legal persective, then 23 months in prison is probably a reasonable sentence, at least compared with what people seem to serve for a variety of other crimes. I'm surprised he got that much to be honest. I figured 6 months tops.
This is an interesting topic, but why are you replying to this thread?

It isn't for a radio show. It's to sign up for Sirius satellite radio. I didn't click on it, but it's probably one of those "get 3-months free if you sign up for 8 years" deals.
It's an easy way to get people to click on the link. For each person that clicks, get poster gets money.
