Sadly, that's not much of a surprise, but much as I was NOT a Michael Jackson fan, I find it difficult to condemn him out of hand.

Here was a man who seemed to be utterly incapable of any sort of normal emotional interaction with anything, who, from childhood onward, has been nothing more than a money making machine. That's how his worth has been evaluated for his entire life. Someone whose whole life was a freak show -- who lived in a cage on display.

It would have been a miracle if he had understood.

Er... really? They're making judgement calls about the welfare of the animals based on shoddy photographs of empty cages..?

Agree With beanie on this. The photos are extreemly unclear the pic of the cage indoors could very easily lead to a large outsode area, the arial shot is from years later, that space could have been stunning it it's day...

I've seen smaller cages at Aza acredited facilities...

I also agree with Renee in that kackson was so far removed from reality, he never had a childhood ect... I can't help bit feel sorry for him and hope he can rest peacefully now

all i see are some empty cages and another newspaper or w/e trying to make a buck off of micheal jackson

The animals in those cages have since been moved, so of course the cages are unkept, for all we know, those are holding cages.

heres the map of his home..

people SCRUTINIZED micheal jackson for every little thing he did. they followed his EVERY MOVE, i doubt he wouldve been able to hide a bunch of giant, abused exotic animals in his backyard...
there are helicopters flying over his house 24/7 and a bunch of people who can't wait to nail him for something or other

the newspaper need to let this man rest in peace and just let it go already

People need to let it go. He left behind grieving children and now isn't the time to be dragging their father through the mud. He was bizarre, granted, but he also seemed like a good father and if that's how his children remembered him, that's how the story should end.

Seriously, the guy named his home "Neverland"...that's not exactly the hallmark of a well-adjusted individual. Anyway, it's going to be impossible to prove how the animals were kept when they were there and as far as being released without endowment, I can't answer that. As far as never visiting them, can you imagine the press storm if MJ had showed up at the zoo to visit Bubbles? "Remorseful pop star visits abandoned pet!"

So let me get this right.

Someone see close up photos of empty cages, in no context whatsoever and then decides a) what they are and b) how the animals were kepts?

No kidding, while I have my own opinions of MJ (which aren't forum friendly) what is to say that those are anything more than treatment areas...come on, a 6 figure vet bill...don't tell me the poor vet was out running around trying to keep animals contained while treating them...

Lame...and personally, I'm really really freaking sick of hearing about him. If it was all so bad, why didn't this come out well beforehand? Huh? Just now that he's deceased do these pictures surface and who is to really say that those photos are even really at Neverland Ranch?! Prove it?

I'd say this doesn't prove anything about anything. In fact, if he was abusing animals, or mistreating them, I'm sure we'd have heard about it by now . . . someone would have talked.

As for not leaving endowments, what about donations at the time? And as for selling animals . . . err . . . zoos and collectors do it all the time.

I do think its sad he never visited Bubbles, but its pointless to speculate about that now.

Like many things, we will probably never know the full story of his animals, and frankly, it doesn't matter now anyway. He's dead.

Oh lord! So a few pictures of cages no longer in use mean animal abuse?
