How do you all feel about what Mel Gibson said about Jews and his DUI incident? I think it is very sad and he feels remorse at what he said. I'm sure some of us have had too much to drink at one time or another and have said stupid things that we don't really mean. Now some people in Hollywood are trying to boycott anything that Mel Gibson stands for, movies etc. What is your take on it? Here is a link to the story

Don't get me wrong but I think it's kind of funny.

I mean, he's supposed to be so religious and blah blah blah and he turns around and says those things! He was supposed to have some show on ABC that they cancelled because of this incident.

He said he was sorry though and was in no way anti-semitic. I don't know, I get drunk and say things but nothing like that!!!!!!!!

The part that really got me was all the "questions" about whether being a celebrity gets you a break with the cops . . . I mean, puh-lease . . . Like we don't all know the answer to that one already. Even in a small town the local celebrities and poohbahs get taken care of

I think that on some level, he believes what he said. He wasn't even that drunk...I don't remember the exact alcohol level.

I say things I don't mean all the time. And I don't even have to be drunk to say some pretty dumb things. Like tonight, I went on a rampage of name calling and bashing my neighbor(because he made me miss a call, and then because I did not get that call, I couldn't go to church with friends).

I hope he gets the help he needs. Alcoholism can't be and isn't an easy thing to beat.

I agree... It was a stupid thing, but I bet there's underlying reasons and I hope he gets the help he needs...

honestly, though, I am quite sick of hearing about it on the news... :p

I'm with you . . .

When's the last time Joe Schmo got world wide news coverage for getting drunk, busted, and running off at the mouth?

One funny thing I did hear said about it though, and I can't remember if it was on Leno or somewhere else . . . anyway, whoever made the quip said that Gibson was really sorry and that's the last time he'd try to out drink Lindsey Lohan :D

What did he say anyways? The story didn't repeat whatever it was he said. I still think it's stupid that people thought he was anti-semetic because of The Passion of Christ. It's a true (to those who believe) Biblical recount of what happened. Any Catholic, or Christian that believes in Jesus and the Bible, knows this. I think people are wanting to label him anti-semetic just to get things stirred up. Since I don't know what he said, and he was drunk, and he apologized, I don't really hold him to blame. He admitted he has a drinking problem and said some things that he himself doesn't believe. What's the problem?

Some people really need to lighten up and quit looking at life through a pair of goggles. No one is perfect! We all fall short. Grace can be given to us as well as we give it. If you have no grace you will recieve no grace. We all could use a little humility as well:D

Being drunk is no excuse for what he said-he's an adult. Time to take responsibility for his actions and his words...

Roxy - It seems like he had to have been drunk cause no one of sound mind would say that and actually mean it. I mean, look at all the wars that have happened. Vietnam, Korea, Germany, Revolutionary War, Gulf War...hmmm, I really don't see how anyone could blame the Jewish people for their own holocaust. I'm not trying to be funny, but it's true! C'mon, it would take a complete lack of mental senses to say something like that.

Asking the cop if he was a Jew...mmmm, not necessarily anti-Semetic, but not a good thing either...especially after his previous statement.

I'm not saying being drunk is an excuse necessarily. It's the truth. He was drunk and he said something stupid. Have you ever been drunk BP? Seriously, we all say stupid things when we aren't in the right state of mind. Be it drinking, drugs, depression, stress, anger, etc. Afterwards you wish you hadn't said it. Adults, children and old people say and do stupid things. It's life. We live, we learn, we move on. :)

He needs to be treated as anyone who drives drunk. As for what he said, I don't think anyone who drinks says anything intelligent so let it go. As for making such a public thing out of what he did it's wrong. I don't think that is fair unless we are going to make all drunks out in the public that way. Let it go. He screwed up and I have yet to meet one person in this world who hasn't. I hate drinking and especially don't approve of getting in a car after you have but then I think that 90% of public is just as dangerous because they can not live without cell phones and if you think about it that is just as dangerous as being drunk. Going 60mph and taking 1 second to dial your phone or find it in your purse etc can take someone elses life. It only takes a second to be in a serious accident.

I think with his whole "newly found seriously cemented Christianity" is where those statements came from with a bit of liquid courage ;)

He was working on something apprently revolving around Christianity, and perhaps he is "angry" at the Jewish community for killing his saviour. Just an idea not my personal opinion.

I've heard a lot of supposed Christians make comments like that.. Just plain disgusting.

I actually think he was referring to what's going on now in the middle east.. The war over certain "special areas" in Israel... and right now it is a prejudice war... Hezbollah made a statement that was directed at the Jewish community directly.

Roxy - Does Mel not realize that Jesus was Jewish? He should be mad that Jesus allowed himself to be killed by his own people...not that the Jews killed him. Heck, if that's the case...and Mel is so Christian...why doesn't he hate the Pharoah for letting Barabus go and allowing the people to crucify Jesus instead? There are so many things that could have happened...should have happened...would have happened if things had been done a little differently. However, God said it would happen, Jesus said, "ok" (boiled down, of course) and he was crucified. It was all part of a grander plan to save man kind. If Mel, or other self proclaimed Christians, can't see that then it's their own fault. JMO

And according to the police record as reported on Nancy Grace tonight his comment was in reference to the police being " Jews " wanting money. I'll say no more
