    Anyone meditate?

I'm a beginner, but just had THE best experience.

Total euphoria, my body was there, but not there... tingles amazing.

I'd say better than sex, but this is a family forum, so I'll just say better than ice cream when you're hormonal

I now want to find an exclusive meditation class! We do it after yoga... but 20 mins isn't enough!

I have tried, but its hard for me to get into the meditative state. My brain tends to wander a lot :p

I think that's why you need someone to talk you through it. I am a thinking, my mind whirrs constantly.

It's not really about NOT thinking, it's about being able to channel your thinking.

Kicking this old thread up 'cause I'm going to try meditating!

Dizzy, are you still meditating regularly? Results?

I've heard so many good things about relaxing and just feeling all around better..........can't hurt, it's free!

I was going to start a thread today about this as me and the missus are just about to embark on it. I've been doing breathing exercises a couple of times a day and it is truly amazing just how much these can improve problems like anger, frustration etc. The next step is some meditation. I'd be interested in everyone's experiences...

Are classes a must or just helpful? I know there are tons of videos online, vidoes at the library, not to mention books and books!

I'm sure classes (first hand experience) is much better, but I think I'm going to give it a go alone.....and practice makes perfect! LOL

I have just started to learn about meditating. I have also been checking into EFT-tapping. I seem to be better at the eft, as I start to get into meditation then get worried I may not be able to come out of it. :(

How do you bring yourself out of it once you are in? Coop try the Silva method you can actually try some of it for free. Send me you email, the one I have no longer works for you. And I will send you some links.

Personally I would never do it on my own, unless I was super good.

Find a good teacher. The one I saw when I went was also a qualified hypnotherapist, as well as a fantastic yoga teacher.

I loved the meditation! As this thread shows :D

However, if you find a good recording, I'd use that too. I often use hypnotherapy recordings just to relax. So I suppose I do still do it, but not as often.

Meditating is pretty easy when deaf. :p

I used to do it a bit, and I still do sort of. Usually when I'm out hiking and find a nice spot. It feels nice.

I actually found a place that is semi local (not the town that I live in, but the one that I work in) that has a meditation class, so I think I'll check it out. I remember my grandma, a devout Catholic, started meditating when I was a kid and did it daily for a half hour. As a kid it just seemed boring--lol--I just knew to go find something else to do so I don't interrupt grandma's meditation.

Interestingly, I've had a few occasions in life over the last week when I definitely would have gotten pissed-off by people prior to commencing my meditation/breathing techniques; however, I had no reaction, rather I just looked at what was transpiring and did something about it after reflecting a bit and then thought to myself "Wow! I didn't instinctively get angry!"

Very pleasant experience and that's after some simple daily breathing techniques, not hard-core meditation or anything!
