I need advice I have a springer spaniel who keeps going out in the field and getting her ears all matted I've tried brushing them out but they keep getting matted anyone have any other ideas PLEASE
You have to brush them better or have the ears cut shorter. You could possibly have your dog wear a snood, but I'm not sure how well it will stay one when she's crashing through the field. I know its a pain, I have to brush out my Cocker and pick burrs off of her every time she comes in from the field or woods depending on where we are.

I agree! My parents have a working Springer and they keep him quite closely clipped for that very reason. Sometimes changing their food/ adding a little oil to their diet to keep the coat more glossy and easier to brush can help. Best thing to do is to cut big matts out rather than put the dog through pain tying to tug them out with a brush.
awww, poppys does that when she comes in from the field, it is a pain, i think you should have them cut short, it's the propper cut for a welshie but its not the same for an english so it's up to u, (i love ur dog, cute)
