What are your guys' views on it?
Don't see why it should be treated any different than tobacco.

Do you think it should be legalized?
Yep

Do you smoke it?
No

Have you tried smoking it?
Yes, and would again.

Lizzie, I don't think she was addressing it to you, but me, because it was I that first stated it. And I would only like to stay that no matter how many people on here I care about have done it and for whatever reason think it would be cool to do again, I am standing my ground in my opinion. My opinion of marijuana and the reasons for using it are still the same.

I think it is stupid. I think that it is a lame excuse for people to run away and try to escape from their problems instead of facingthem. I think it hurts far too many people. I have to agree.. often times (note I said often, not ALL) people do drugs or drink to create solutions for problems in their lives- they drink it away or get away to escape it. They wake up the next morning and life still sucks so they do it all over again.. not a life to live as far as I'm concerned. *****

My first reaction is no. But then again.. why does it really matter. If the idiots [ insert people here instead of idiots... just because people want to smoke pot doesn't make them idiots.. it's often their actions and the continued use of it that would be cause for the use of the term 'idiots'...] want to smoke it, they'll find a way. But, I have not done the research nor do I possess the information and knowledge enough to stand firmly on either side of this issue.

Heck no. I used to have tons of pot heads as friends in my early teens. But I was never dumb enough to try it. No matter how many times my friends would ask me to try it, I would never. I've seen what cancer sticks and marijuana has done to my mother, and just the fact that I never want to be like her, so I will NEVER ever think about smoking or drinking. Smoking and drinking alcohol will never be an option for me. I agree- smoking will never be an option for me, drinking I've done on occassion, though I've never been drunk- there's no place in my life for things like that.
I've never had the desire to try it. I've never done anything to try to fit into the 'in crowd' nor was I ever curious about drinking.. smoking.. drugs because I was well educated with seeing it in my personal life. I don't need to experience being drunk or getting high off of drugs I'm happy with the way things are and me being me. :)

***** as far as continued users are concerned is my opinion.. those who try once or twice don't fall into the 'abuse' category. again, just my opinion. :)

I never said or that you should change your opinion at all. It's good you have your opinions. I was addressing your comment about "idiots" not about anything else.

Actually my first time was at a horseshow with Elin and her friends. I was sorta the "cool' Mom of the horse circuit and several gals came to our room for Tom's and mine 25th anniversary . They had one "smoke" to share and I knew they would either in my presence or not . After a talk about what they were wanting to do , I joined in for one " hit " ..... no , it wasn't right , but if not with me , they would have done it anyway . I wasn't in Egypt in those days ... I preferred to be a Mother Hen and be able to watch over the kids whose parents were in " De Nile " . I wanted to know where my kids were and why . That's why most of the parties were at our home . Car keys were taken and we were home . I remember one time a couple entered our bedroom to make out ..... HELLO !!! We're home and here ! My kids could never go to a house with no parents home . I may have been to complaisant , but it paid off . trusted my kids and they appreciated that we cared . It's a fine line folks.

Do I think it should be legalized? My first thought is no, maybe if I knew more about it I'd say yes; just don't see why people 'need' to smoke it, and I pretty much feel the same about cigerattes and alcohol.

Have never tried it, never will. Don't see the point.

I think all drugs should be legalized. I have never smoked anything in my life and that goes for cigarettes too. Had a Dad that told us everyday not to do it and why and I never did...

1) i dont see why not it would keep our jails emptier and our cops doing reall good.

2)i used to before and a little after i got walker. i used to do alot of drugs and frankly i was a mess. But it doesnt make me an idiot. I made choises of my own that did not harm any one else i did not drive wen i was high or tripping, i jsut sat with my friends and chilled.

3) depends on teh sitution there are times that i might but for the most part not really its not worth gettin in trouble for

Sure, legalize it. Then we can tax the hell out of it and get better roads.

Have I smoked it? No, don't plan to either. I see enough people with fricked up lives to know what the stuff can do to you. My uncle is one of such people.

Do you know how much taxes is collected on a gallon of fuel and on a gallon of booze? We should not have bad roads. The pot heads would pay more into the government and we would see no benefit other than bigger government.

Legalize it! Free people that we have locked in jails who have done no other crimes but used drugs. Those peoples income taxes plus not having to pay for them to be in prison may satisfy the most tax loving people. Or at least get them in an environment to get help (that they would have to pay off)instead of putting them in with hard criminals who guide them down an even rougher road.

The drug problems are far worse now than when they were legal. There are gang wars over territory just like during the alcohol prohibition. That stopped when the stupid law was repealed, lets at least try it on drugs. We could save a lot of tax dollars by not having a war on this unwinnable issue. With the savings we can build GlassOnion a road paved with gold:)

Do you think the world would be a better place with people like many of the Chazzers who admitted to use were to spend several years in prison? Do you think they would come out of that environment enlightened and eager to do the right thing? In the case of Bill Clinton, I would say YES the world would have been better with him in prison. While it made the papers and the world laughed at his drug use there were less fortunate people sitting in cells over the same thing. I found that a bit appalling

I have tried it on several occasions. I never got anything out of it except the last two times. I didn't care for the feeling I got so I haven't touched it for years. I like the way it smells though. Some of the most honest good hearted people I know use pot. I dont think it is a good thing to be not in your right mind, but the laws arent stopping these guys. They would never hurt anyone intentionally so why make them face the man over it? So what if they choose to destroy their brain cells? They can do that with household chemicals that are legal.

Just speaking from my experiences NO don't legalize it, sure if it was legalized you could tax it and sure the jails would be emptier but it does a GREAT deal of damage to you.

I smoked almost everyday for a few years yes it was VERY expensive and it did mess with my head I was ALWAYS putting everything on the back burner and not dealing with any of my problems, boy let me tell you the hole I have had to dig myself out of.

I have a friend that smoked so much she is seriously mentally challenged now (YES just from marijuana) she was a straight A student and had a lot going for her but she found marijuana and it screwed her up.

Yes it can be VERY addicting no matter what anyone says I was there it completely takes you over you ALWAYS need it and it ALWAYS came first priority in my life. I did not get to spend the last months with my aunt before she died because I was always to busy smoking pot.

Now I have been sober for over a year and doing great I am starting college this spring to go for my RN, I always read Nancy's stories on here, just reading her stories about her job has really helped make my decision on what I want to be when I grow up...=) and I have always wanted to work with children in a nurse aspect maybe not exactly what she does but in pediatrics!

This is just my 2 cents from my experiences so PLEASE don't waste your time or brain cells on marijuana! Thanks for listening ~:0)

I'd prefer yellow bricks. Then maybe I'd find a wizard to fix some of the bigger problems.

The tax thing was kind of tongue in cheek. The government's spending is a huge problem. I was expecting someone to come on with a 'pad more wallets' or something along those lines (you used bigger government) rebuttal for taxing.

But there's also the problem that there is with alcohol. If we make marijuana available everywhere (like alcohol) and it's easier to get, what happens when people get behind the wheel? It does affect your driving abilities, not exactly the same as alcohol but the hindrance is there. So more deaths? Probably. Just another tax I guess.

It does effect your driving. Pot is not hard to come by now. What keeps you from doing foolish things? You're not foolish and most other people arent either. The fools will be foolish with or without laws. As you have posted on another subject awhile back, places with more restrictions tend to have more problems with the very thing they are supposedly protecting the people from.

You and your friends did all of this while it is illegal. Did the law help? Would ten years in prison fix the issues you had?

I used to smoke it. For a few years.

I quit.

I think people have the right to try what they want.

No I don't think it should be legalised though.

It isn't harmless, it isn't as bad as ALOT of things, but like ANYTHING moderation is the key.

You can really really tell the difference in yourself once you quit.. and it takes more than a few days, it takes months to start noticing the difference.

But, still, I am glad I tried it :)

I think people should address alcohol 1st. Cannabis can cause dependency, but alcohol is physically addictive, and makes people violent and vomity.

I'd rather go into town and see a load of potheads than a load of drunks.

Actually, most of the intelligent people we know are pot smokers - they have a lot of time to contemplate those big questions ;)

p.s. I haven't read the whole thread... I can't be bothered :)

I think that like anything it can be abused and have a negative effect. When I would smoke for a few days at a time, when I was in my partying heavily stage.. I would become forgetful and clumsy.. but only when I overdid it.

I don't think it's any worse than alcohol though. When I go out, I go OUT and drink till the point of drunkenness. I've had falls, puking sessions, and things that did WAY more damage to me than smoking some weed ever did. If anything I was 'safer' with weed because I was just silly and lazy :)

I'm not really sure how I feel about it.

First time we had it a friend tried to throw the baby we were watching out a window. We almost dragged her to the hospital.and after my psych class I realized how many people come in with canabis induced psychosis-it really makes some people down right dangerous. How do you weed those people out from those not affected?

And there are those who seem like better people after they smoke. I know people I only like when they are high:p

But now that I'm a little older and have a career to risk I distance myself from anyone who even touches the stuff. I never really got the point myself.

And as far as using it medically-yeah it does help some people but so does morphine and we don't legalize it for everyone to use at home. I see no problme with medical use which a lot of people do use. Supposedly only california has it as a law but I know people here get it.
