Omg.. I can relate to that man though, I would have done the same thing if I thought Riot was in trouble.

It always worries me when Riot is swimming now incase something comes up from the bottom and grabs him (my worst fear lol) or him not being able to come into shore in time.

That scares me, because I know I would not hesitate to jump in because I'm a "strong" swimmer. Not that it would make any difference in a situation like this. I wonder if the dog was struggling and was stuck as well, it doesn't really say if the dog made it or not.

I'm sorry about the man too .... but did the dog make it ?? I've wondered in case of a fire how to get Chip out the bedroom window. I know I can't lift him, but figure I can roll my bed to the window and then shove him out. I had a terrible time with escape missions when the kids were small !!! Them, then the dogs , then the Dad and then me !!! Thank the good Lord it never happened !

You know... over a period of three nights, all three nights I had a dream that we had a fire. Each night the fire started in the same room at the same night, but I had a different strategy of getting all of my babies out, some of my clothes wrapped up in my blanketing, and all my dog training/brushign supplies! Lol.

that's so sad. :( It doesn't say if the dog survived or not.. or am I missing something? I sure as heck hope that poor dog made it. I wish this guy would have made it. :(

:O that's horrible :'(

but i understand. when i let yoshi swim in the pond or in the lake i know that i would jump in to help her if she showed signs of being stuck or being too tired to make it back to shore. the lake i'm tall enough to walk from the lake to the island *always take her to same spot* but it's deep enough she has to swim and at the pond i know i could make it there and back. but i had her out on the boat and she fell in i know i'd jump in after her. :) she's my baby.

I would totally jump in after one of my dogs.

Yeah, I was wondering about if the dog lived or not either. I guess not... or maybe his new owners didn't want it to be disclosed?!

What a sad story, something I've pictured while at our off leash park with my own dog...lots of water...I'm not a great swimmer. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for my dogs and it's so nice to read posts from like minded folks. I hope the dog made it too, if not they're together on the other side.....

we don't know if the dog was on a leash or not. they don't say and the dog hasn't been found yet. the guy was an older man, he may have lost hold of the leash and the dog fell in and got tangled on the rocks or swept away. i hope they find the dog soon. it would be a nice ending to a sad story if the dog made it.

I'm sorry....it was a sad story but the guys name was Baba Looey???
Images of Rickey Ricardo banging on his congas and singing "Baba Lou" came to mind.
