Knowing what cops go through on a daily basis, the stress, the physical torture, the over worked life that they lead, something like this does not suprise me.
While it may seem impossible for such a tragedy to happen, it is a very real event. Parents working long hours, over taxing themselves, and trying to get their jobs done, often forget about their kids in the car especially if schedules are change or upheaved. This is not animal abuse because it was not intentional.
I would hope that while emotions are running high right now, some of you will step back and try to imagine what it is like to work a "cops hours". Sometimes pulling double shifts, sometimes working "off the clock". They are still human with human limitations and with buget cuts and layoffs it would not suprise me if this guy was working the job of three men. Yes, it is horrible, and yes it is a tragedy, but I am willing to bet that that man is feeling enough guilt to kill and elephant. I can only hope that no one here ever has to experience such a personal tragedy to understand/comprehend what it's like.
