Maddie's gone...

Got a call from my Mom, they had to have Maddie PTS on Thursday. She'd been coughing off and on for a week, but seemed fine otherwise. Wednesday night Maddie started coughing and couldn't stop so Mom and Dad took her to the emergency clinic. The vet decided to keep her overnight and Mom and Dad were going to take her to a specialist the next morning. Around midnight they got a call that Maddie had taken a turn for the worse, they went up there and made the decision to let her go. She was such a good dog...

Thanks, everyone. Mom said no more dogs, it hurts too much to lose them. I'm sure Dad is devastated - he always said dogs (and cats) were useless (usually with a cat on his lap and Maddie by his side), but he was the one who always took Maddie for daily walks and to the park.
We're going over there this afternoon - it will be so strange not having Maddie there to bounce around to greet us...
