my brothers watching his friends little doxie and he's adorable! but i feel so bad for him, they said he's 'a couple months old' but he can barely eat the food they left for him because he doesn't have enough teeth to chew it with. they don't want to house train him so he just has all these pads for him to go on. he doesn't drink regular water because she only buys him fuji water. he's already overweight and he won't even play, just eat. i can't tell if he's over weight because he's eating all the time or if he just has worms so he's got the kinda bloated tummy look. he won't even walk more than a couple feet because he's so use to her carrying him around this this fancy little bag. i just feel bad for the little dog :( i hope he turns out better than i think he might, she won't even consider training for him or socializing him because she said he was just going to stay home all the time anyway. i hope he has a good life though :(

:(

although it might not be all bad, as it sounds like she cares for the dog, but doens't know how to care for it (as opposed to most where the owner simply doesn't care about the dog). So if this is the case, she would hopefully change her ways to suit the dog

But it's never fun hearing about these cases :(

Wow, some people really shouldn't have pets! If you don't have enough money to take it to the vet then you shouldn't own one! That would frustrate me too.

The worst thing is it sounds like she actually has money ("only buys fuji water" "carries it around in this fancy bag"), but doens't want to spend any unless it makes the dog look better

That's sad. Have you tried talking to her? Telling her that dogs need vaccinations, walks, training, a feeding schedule and can't just be left to fend for themselves when the owner leaves. How old is this girl/woman? Has she never had a dog before? Why is she willing to spend money on making the dog look good but not on it's health?

I just don't understand.

well she is 18 and she just graduated. you can tell the puppy loves her, you say her name and his eyes light up and he starts walking around trying to find her. but she's also going to college next month so i feel bad for him :(

i did convince her to take him to the vet, after of course, i told her that he needed his shots or he'd die or get sick.

What's she going to do with him when she goes to college?

*Tira does that when I say, "Where's Daddy?" or "Is that Daddy?" She'll run to the door or window with her ears perked up and little butt just a waggling.*

May I ask why no one has called animal control or the humane society on this woman? She is definately NOT being a very good dog owner and someone needs to intevene for the health and well-being of this pup!

well we could call on her but it won't do much :/ she gives it shelter, food and water and that's all the law says she needs to give it.

If the dog is being fed and has proper shelter there's not much that can be done. The unfortunatly don't take animals from owners because of stupidity.

I'd have to say she isn't even meeting those requirements. Sounds like she isn't even feeding it properly. She won't even give it regular water and can't be bothered to housebreak it!! Gross!!(Health hazard??)Idiots like that make me so mad!!!
