I am the proud parent of two American Eskimos! Both are 5 years old. Yesterday we had to take our female in to see the Emergency vet because out of nowhere she came up with lesions on her nose and mouth. She also was very swollen around that area. They put her on some steroids as well as antibiotics and then said we had to wait and see what happens. The vet said it could have come from her getting into something, but it also could be that she has Lupus. I am wondering if anyone out there has any experience with a pet that had Lupus. What were the symptoms? How did they function? Treatment? Thanks so much!

discoid lupus is what your vet is referring to with your dog. It is the easier treated of the lupus, also keep the dog out of the sun as this can make the condition worse.

A couple friends of mine with aussies have discoid lupus and they are fine, as long as they don't have full exposure to sunlight and treat with meds..

Thanks for the info. Does your friend put sunscreen on the dogs nose? Do you think I can expect a normal life expectancy?

yes she does put something on his nose, not sure what it is. He is living a perfectly normal life with no problems.
