I can't stand it anymore after reading the Marley book thread! I've written a book about a yellow lab that was my best hunting buddy and I'd like some feedback. The book is free for now and written in blog format here: http://bunkiestory.blogspot.com/ . I'm getting the book ready for publication soon and I'm trying to see how it will go over. Chapter 4 is pretty plain speak about the sexlife of my dog, so please keep youngsters from reading it, maybe I'm being overly cautious, I don't know, but I've rated it as teen and above with the publisher. I'm a man, so it's written from a man's perspective so no hating for that, ok? :D . The picture on the Blog is going to be the front cover of the book, it's a real picture of Bunkie a week after I got him. Any feedback is appreciated.

If all goes well, it will be in bookstores soon. It's like sending a child out into the world though, you're not sure what's going to happen. I've been thinking of doing the book for years though. I'd tell the stories at dinner and work and the funny ones brought some laughs. It's the least that I can do for my old friend. Chapter 4 is true, all of it. I was on a roll that night and it's my feeble attempt at dog humor :D .

I bookmarked the website and will read it as I have time. I will let you know what I think. Are you open to criticism?

I just read from beginning to end. I REALLY enjoyed this read. I am a huge Jack London fan (his outdoor themes blow me away). I also grew up hunting and learning much about the outdoors. The "man" style in which you wrote the book and a few of the references really got me laughing. There are a LOT of things I could ramble on about the book... the hunting, the humor of your ex-wife, or Sherry. I really felt like I was there watching bunkie from his start to his finish. I even teared up about the old cleaning rag and the shotgun bringing a blind dog to your side... Well done

Hah hah maybe just a tad strong for young kids. I know I had a good laugh. When this book gets published, please let us know... I need a copy. I really enjoy a book that makes me feel like I know the main subject (Bunkie)

Thanks, I thought it might be a little raw for the younguns :yikes: . I'm adding some more content to the book as I remember it. So many memories :D . I'll be sure to let everyone know that's interested.

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses and feedback, it's much appreciated. If you are reading the book and want to finish it, you need to do so before 01/05/2007, because I'll have proofed the real book by then and will remove most of the content on the blog right after that. The Blog will still be there but it will act as a store front after that date with minimal content. Feel free to tell your friends about the free read until 01/05/2007.

Thanks Drew, you'll be one of the first to know. My publisher is pitching a fit that the majority of the book is up on the web, so I've got to take it down ASAP. Thanks for the compliments and reads folks!
