They live surprisingly well, actually
All are indoor only - the cats never go outside, the dogs only to do bathroom things or for supervised playing.
Two of the cats and one dog (the albino male doberman) are not mine - they belong to my best friend, who also rents a room from me in my house. So while they live here, they are not my responsibility at all, and specifically her doberman does not live loose with mine - while he can be with them (evidenced by the pictures), he spends 90% of his life separate from my dogs.
in terms of my own animals, it's a balancing act. all the cats are safe because all the dogs are good with cats - while they occassionally get chased by a rambunctious rah, they also have an entire level of the house that the dogs are not allowed in, that belongs purely to them - cat toy heaven!
in my own dogs, it's always supervision. having multiple males in a house can be hard and downright dangerous - my guys are only together enough to like each other - they spend probably 50-60% of their lives apart (more if you count time spent sleeping). they have their own crates, own sleeping spots. it helps that my eldest male is an 11.5 year old, so his requirements in life extend to eating, bathroom breaks, and love
my 2 year old is my competition dog, and he's in heavy duty training and we will be mirroring that with the pup.
ive posted about it before - some of the ways i have to live my life certainly isnt easy, but my dogs are wonderful and do great with each other the way we function - and puppy is loving them all!
