I am headed to London on Monday (and have prepared nothing). So besides being really excited that I'm heading to London, I have Researched almost NOTHING (because I am lazy and can't believe I'm already leaving soon). So now I have no idea how much the metro ect. costs or anything?
So now I have some questions for Chazzers who have been to London or live there...
1) how much does the metro cost?
2) how far is it from London to Cambridge/Brighton/Oxford?
3) What are the best sights?
4) Any good clubs?
5) How are the prices for food.

I really really need to exchange my money. I hate exchanging money... esp. into a currency where it seems like you have less money than you actually do.....

The metro is pretty reasonable. It depends on how far you have to go (how many zones). I remember it being 10$ish? Though we never had far to travel. The Underground is very efficient and easy to get the hang of.

We took the train from Brighton to London last summer and it was about an hour, I think. Depends to where in London you're going, though. It was I think 45 or 50 minutes to Heathrow, which is on the outskirts of London to the south. I think it was an hour to downtown London.

The best sights in LONDON? Oh dear god. You need to read a tourist guide or something! London is so cram packed with things you should see. The British Museum is a must, though. I was absolutely awe-struck. Westminster Abbey is also amazing.

Downtown London there are clubs eeeverywhere. If you're really into clubbing, I would personally try to go to the places where the British celebrities go (KOKO, Cargo, Heaven). But that's just me. You might catch a glimpse of an uberdrunk Lily Allen. :D

London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Particularly right downtown. Particularly restaurants. Of coure, it depends on the food, but I remember things downtownish in a nice-ish restaurant starting at around 25$ish for an entree.

I have NO idea, I just know it is twice as expensive down south as it is up here, for everything.

But I agree with the above - there is TONS to see. I'm jealous, I really want to do the London tourist thing, I've driven through a couple of times, and went once for an afternoon, but that's it, and it always has me in awe because it's MAHOOOOOSIVE (to me).

I would just say though, you can do this expensive, or you can do this cheaply.

You either check out all the swanky places and posh eateries, or you go for the more quirky backstreet/camden market type places which are cheaper.
