Today, I hosted a Great Dane Meet-Up / Picnic for my dane message board members. We also asked our local Great Dane Rescue group, MAGDRL, to come out as well, since our forum supports Great Dane welfare groups.

We had a BLAST!! There were, by guestimate, about 30-35 danes and about 40-50 people there.

Here is a link to my the album for all of the photos! Enjoy!!

Her former owners neglected her and when she was rescued, a chain was embedded into her leg and had cut off circulation. The infection was so severe and so much dead tissue that they had to amputate to save her life.

Boy, even with only three legs, she sure could motor!! :)

How cool! I wish we lived closer to you guys. Look at all the Mantles! It is cool seeing what Daisy will be like when she's full grown.

My wife is taking Daisy to a MAGDRL event tomorrow. I can't go as I have to work (the life of an IT server admin, I have maintenance to do). I bet it's going to be a blast for them.

WOW! Wish I were closer! Looks like a good time was had! Btw, how's our Hannah? ;)

Hannah is doing well on her new regimen. She actually played for about 2 1/2 minutes today, which is the longest she had played in the past month. One of the little girls threw her Cuz toy while we were down at the baseball field and it just proved too much to resist for Hannah. She raced about 20 feet away, retrieved her Cuz and brought it back to me. Then she showed it off to her favorite boys, Brutus and Jaxson, and then she called it quits. Her stamina has really, really decreased to about 1/20th of what it used to be, but just to see her have a tiny little mini-burst of play today made me so happy!

She's exhausted though, today was really tiring for her, and she's sore and stiff from whatever is ailing her back....but she's happy, and she had a blast!!

She's pretty much been snoozing on her plush princess bed since we got home this evening. She's gotten up long enough to go for a bathroom break, and for dinner, and that's it. She hasn't even played with her new presents - a Dino Cuz toy and a stuffie that a friend from out of town gave her today. :yikes: Betcha she'll notice them tomorrow though, when she's not so tired. Cuz toys are like doggie drugs to Hannah....she can't resist them. :)

That had to be super fun. Such beautiful dogs. And I'm glad to hear that Hannah is feeling better, although she is tiring easily. That is such a sad story about that 3 legged Dane. It's hard to imagine how someone could care so little for another life, leaving a chain on him like that. I'm so glad he was rescued from that sociopath. Glad you all had such fun. I enjoyed all the photos.
